Can’t find the US’ starting lineup. Assume that Kemba is the starting PG but unclear who else from Team Shamrock will be on the floor at tip-off.

Kemba and Tatum started. Smart and Brown were off the bench early.

US up 45-32 in 3rd.

Kemba: 10 points, 3 assists
Tatum: 10 points, 3 boards
Brown: 2 points
Smart: 1 board

US up by 18 going into the 4th. This is likely a W.

Tatum missed a couple easy looks, but had some nice moves to get the chances.

My feed is terrible and it’s hard to make out the players at times but it looks like Kemba is having a good game. Looking forward to seeing him in green.

Nice solid 21-point win. Could've been 30 if we weren't so sloppy, but at times we looked like a real team.

The physicality of FIBA play makes it really interesting to watch, because they're not calling incidental contact and you've got to finish what you start on a drive or whatever. In the 4th, Brook drew what would have been a charge in the NBA, but the Czech player hot him, kept going, and finished on a floater - no call. Should be an adjustment for a lot of players, but also really good practice for the Jays to finish through contact.

You don't have 5Dimes?
I have 3 local guys per per head sites. They usually have all I need. I’ll be in Philly/AC from Tues-Sun and all those places will have it. I hope the Turkey game falls within that window I’ll check schedule later.

Tatum starts with a dumbass fadeaway. Then makes a great pass, blocks a shot, and goes and draws a foul.

I wonder how the Turkish basketball federation and government feel about their starting PG Scottie Wilbekin being tatted head to toe.

answered my own question, we're not subbing because Joe Harris has 4 fouls and Khris Middleton has 3. Meanwhile, half the turkish roster is nearly fouling out, including Wilbekin, Erden and Ilyasova all with 4.

Free Throws:
USA 20/25 (80%)
TUR 13/18 (72%)

Tie ballgame, 71-all. Korkmaz is killing us. Also, 10,000 Chinese people and 1,000 Turkish people are all rooting against us, which can't help.

and if you think Tatum gets hacked without getting the call in the NBA, wait till you see some of the highlights later.

Yup. US down by 3 and he was fouled shooting a 3 with .1 seconds on the clock. He made #1 and #3 to tie it up, missed #2 for the win.

down by 2 but yeah.

Myles Turner doesn't take his first or second passing option, gets it stripped from behind. If we lose this, remember Donovan Mitchell getting called for offensive goaltending for jamming the rim while Turner was putting it back for the (would-be) lead.

And Tatum goes down after a huge defensive rebound and a nice feed to Middleton, who was fouled and hit both to take the lead. Very very not good. Had to be helped off the court.

Sounds like a great game. Please keep the updates coming. I wish I could watch. Some of us have to work for a living.
you'll want to watch as many highlights as you can find. Ilyasova, Korkmaz and Erden played the game of their lives and it arguably should have been enough.

Thanks to Turkey missing 4 FTs in last 9 seconds, the US survives.

Against Turkey.

Walker: 14 points, 6 boards, 7 assists
Tatum: 11 points, 11 boards
Brown: 1 point, 1 board
Smart: 5 points, 1 assist

I'm seeing Erden with 0 points, and 4 boards but I didn't watch. What did he do?

Brazil beat Greece by 1 earlier today, meaning we play Greece Saturday morning and Brazil Monday morning. I'm sure the reffing in that game to get that result was worthy of Tim Donaghy, because that's a bonanza to FIBA.

He realized, unlike our forwards, that in FIBA play you can jump up to contest the shooter, body them in the air, and they don't call it a foul. He must've prevented like a dozen shots like that that went for no-calls that would have been easy fouls in the NBA. Mitchell was flapping his wings so hard I thought he was going to take flight.

Coming in late here, but the way these refs determine intentional fouls is going to be a major factor in this tournament. You simply are not allowed to foul the way our guys have fouled all their lives when going down the stretch. In some ways, it is the right call, but it seems against the spirit and I gotta believe it's gonna take some getting used to.
