Young shot 35% from 3 at UK. Romeo shot 27% (albeit with a torn thumb ligament)
I don’t get the Young comparisons. Young was supposed to be a great shooter. Langford is a slasher.
Maybe they are moving one. JB and him may play a lot of 2 guard if they don't sign or draft one.
At this point in the draft, get a guy with one NBA caliber skill. Danny is always trying to hit home runs and ends up with guys like this.

We’ve still got two more this round. Let’s see if we can’t get ourselves a big who can’t rebound or a ball-stopping PG with poor vision and a high turnover/assist before we write the coda.
My Young comparison comes down to: this guy is not good and has no path to playing time. And will be of no use to the Celtics.
Infinite switchability
The Celtics had better not take Jahleem Montague in 2020.

I don’t hate the pick. You’re pissing into the wind at this point of the draft and it’s a weak draft at that. If he becomes a competent three point shooter he’s probably a decent future bench scorer.
I think his mentality, particularly on offense, was probably a big draw for Ainge. He’s aggressive and gets after it. That plus positional size and some skills = take the risk he’ll shoot and try to coach him up.

Sure, but the inverse square law tends to apply to draft order as it relates to chances of NBA success. #14 was by far the best opportunity and should comprise most of the grade.
Danny loves a guy who was a top HS prospect, then got to college and lost his luster because it turns out trying real hard is less important than shoot the basketball. Problem is that very few of those guys turn into much more than 8th men, and even those usually do it with defense. I can see Langford working out, but given our roster, and what else was out there, I'm not thrilled.
My two favorite guys in this draft are Zion (just a baller, totally nonplussed by all this shit) and Garland (wore a fucking bathrobe).
Watched of a lot of Indiana hoops this season, did you? If memory serves, you absolutely ripped the Jaylen Brown pick a few years ago.
If we take Clarke here I'll be happy, honestly as much as I don't like Langford, if he'd been picked at 20 and Clarke at 14, I'd have been fine with it
Half the fun of draft night. He was hardly ever mentioned as a Celtics target in mocks so I never looked deep into him. I trust the team's judgment -- and lots of interesting prospects still on the board.
Clarke or Goga, so I guess with Clarke there at 20 I would have misjudged his market (though maybe could have had both).
Am I wrong to think Langford is Avery Bradley 2.0 with a better finish at the rim? They both had questions about their shooting coming in, Langford finishes better, Bradley defended better?
