Ok, so I forgot that Langford tore a ligament in his thumb and played 26 of 32 games injured....,.... still, I don't necessarily buy he can shoot, and all the ball stopping and poor vision issues have nothing to do with his injury

Huh Romeo, I kinda hate that. He's a smaller less athletic Jaylen, except instead of being a good defender he's a mediocre to bad one.
If you built a type of player I hate it would include a lot of Romeo Langford.... Ball stopping ISO guy, who is brutally inefficient, and has "mid-range game" as his best attribute. Also plays below the rim

This guy isn't either a shooter or a defender, without size, and with an injury history. Really don't understand the pick.

Would have preferred Goga or Bol or Clarke

Best thing is Danny sent out a press release to ESPN apparently, as somehow they were able to come up with a detailed explanation of why the Celtics were higher than others on Langford

I like that his high fives with the kids during his walk up to get the hat seemed natural and at ease. I don’t know, that’s the extent of my analysis.

He tore a ligament in his thumb. He’s not harboring a bad back, an arthritic knee, or suffered a series of injuries or something

Not a fan of the pick. Hopefully Clarke or Bol Bol are there at 20.

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?

Strengths: 2-guard with a big high school reputation and a lot of physical tools to work with ... He’s very aggressive going to the rim ... He has the quickness to blow by defenders and size to absorb contact in the paint ... He has a near seven-foot wingspan ... That allows him to get his shot off over taller forwards and centers ... Played some point in high school, and retains some ability as a facilitator ... He has great court awareness when he gets into the lane ... He makes quick decisions to attack once he sees centers are out of the lane ... He knows how to draw fouls at a high rate ... He averaged 6 free throws per game last season ... When he gets into the lane, he’s adept at finding the open man ... He’s great in transition ... When he has the ball, he pushes aggressively ... Without it he’s great at filling the lanes and finishing ... He is a good rebounder for a guard, particularly offesnively ... He grabbed over 5 rebounds per game last season ... Having grabbed 1.4 offensive rebounds per game last season ... He can create extra possessions for his teammates … In the NBA, guards who can generate extra possessions by rebounding are a bonus ... He’s able to take advantage of smaller matchups and post up smaller guards ... He’s a solid defender ... With his physical tools, his potential is excellent ... He’s great at attacking out of the pick roll to get into the lane ... He’s shown nice touch around the rim ... Has a solid ability to shoot off the dribble ...

Wow, they really must not like the bigs available. Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Goga?

I was hoping for Goga at 14, Matisse at 20 and maybe Carsen Edwards at 22 (I think he could end up a Vinnie Johnson type of scorer off the bench.) I will not be getting what I hoped for, but Ainge has a much better track record than I do!

Jay King made him sound like a decent high upside guy going into the draft. Wrote him up as a potential Celtics pick:

One big knock on Langford has been his shooting as a college freshman, but he played after November with a torn ligament in his shooting hand. That helped drag down his outside shooting percentages, which were an issue even before the 6-foot-6 wing entered college as one of the nation’s top recruits. Given the existing questions, NBA teams must decide whether Langford – well-regarded for his ability to put the ball in the hole – can develop into an efficient scorer, rather than a volume scorer, at the next level. If he can consistently knock down shots, he could become a big-time scorer, especially for a physically gifted wing who will likely be picked late in the lottery or beyond. Langford averaged 16.5 points as a freshman, but shot just 27.2 percent from behind the arc.

One thing to keep in mind with regard to the Celtics’ potential feelings toward Langford (or, really, any other prospect): The front office evaluates far more than the small sample size of a single college season. Langford’s production in high school, which left him with Rivals’ No. 6 ranking in his class, matters. Boston overlooked Jaylen Brown’s iffy freshman season at California partly because of all he accomplished at lower levels and he has rewarded the team by growing into a promising wing with a legitimate outside shot.
At 14? Sure, whatever, roll the dice and hope he develops a 3-pt shot.

72% from the line with an injured thumb. Perhaps the outside shooting woes are fixable.

Surprised it wasn’t the French guy.
He gets to the line a lot. Shot 194 free throws (in 32 games) this season. Made 72 percent, as others have noted.

I mean, who needs 3 point shooting these days.

Such a classic Danny Ainge pick. I look forward to watching James Young's career again.

Langford was a 5 star recruit out of HS. #7 overall recruit. Scored 3000 points in HS. He knows how to score. If they are going younger, it gives him time to develop.
But where do the minutes come from unless they are moving one of Brown/Smart
