Danny Ainge, Boston’s president of basketball operations, is looking to make a significant move ahead of the 2019 NBA Draft, The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn reported Thursday morning. The Celtics are looking to package picks (they own the Nos. 14, 20 and 22 selections) and/or veterans to either move up in the draft or acquire an established star.

Understand that “Ainge could be working on a major draft-night deal,” Washburn wrote. “An NBA source said he believes the Celtics are working on such a deal to nab a veteran player and could use those draft picks to work out a trade.” Added Washburn: “Ainge is trying to move up in this draft, targeting Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland, the poster player for this mercurial draft. Garland played five games last season, a total of 139 minutes, because of a knee injury, and he decided to declare for the draft.”

If the Celtics draft Kevin Porter Jr. and trade Aaron Baynes in the same night, someone’s gonna have to check on BenHogan.

I'd personally stand pat and see if either Coby White or Garland drop. I want to see 2 if not rookies if we can't trade for next year. Don't want to put all chips on one guy. Trading 3 picks for one in a 3 person draft seems like bad probability. Difference between 22 and 5 doesn't seem huge.

I sure hope so. After this came out one of my books still had DeAndre as a +175 underdog to be drafted ahead of Garland and I maxed out my individual play limit on it. This would be a nice bump to my evening...….or a sign of things to come.
Happened to be on twitter when the trade broke and I caught Hunter under 5.5 at +120 immediately after.

That seems like a terrible deal for Phoenix, which is par for the course this afternoon.
We'll have to see who they select but the obvious answer should be that the guy they are targeting will be available at 11 so why not add Saric to the mix for nothing.

"That's no Porzingis reaction from Knicks fans!"

Yeah, he sucked so bad. Those knowledgeable Knicks fans were so right!

So far the draft is going according to the script. It should get more interesting from here on in. Bets on the next one?

For anyone wanting to sweat my action tonight. Everything can be considered 1-unit with the above DeAndre pick the equivalent of a 2.5x unit. I somehow restrained myself from losing any and all discipline which was VERY tempting to do. Maybe I should have, we'll see.

* Hachimura U13.5 (picked top-13) -290
* Hachimure before Brandon Clarke -255
* Little U12.5 -215

Cleveland is still discussing possible trades including the fifth overall pick --- and separate deals to unload JR Smith's partially guaranteed expiring contract that would absorb a bad contract into the Cavs space attached to another first-round pick, league sources tell ESPN.

Since we talking about Memphis, for months I thought Chris Vernon was a 50 year old black man. Non Memphis related, Sean Fennessy looks exactly as I suspected.
