This has been one of the better dunk contests of last 10-12 years. Low bar. But entertaining nonetheless...

Am I the only one that has literally no idea who Jay Cole is, or why his high school jersey is important?

The Aaron Gordon/Zach Lavine dunk off was the best in recent memory. Not even close.

Edit: For those that missed it, or don't remember, watch this:

Diallo used his off hand to locate where Shaq was, but didn't really push off him to get over that giant. That was a great dunk. The contest in general was lame. No where near the smoothness, explosiveness, competitiveness, and creativity of the epic battle between Gordon and LaVine.

EDIT: Bambino, I had the same thought as you about the classic dunk off between LaVine and Gordon. They need to have a rematch next year

zion, lavine, gordon, diallo next year please, and give them 3 dunks each round with only the top 2 counting so they can go all out and not have to play it safe

Thanks, really enjoyed that. Insane to look at what Gordon did and realize he lost. Nothing tonight would have belonged in the same gym with those two...

Now I guess we pray Zion does this thing at least once?

old guys went 6/25 I think, that went about as well as planned as when they staged that half court shootout a couple years ago for Steph and then he bricked every shot
The guy that "ate a shooter" was the best of the 4. Good month for Wolverines.

To me, Aaron Gordon's group of dunks were the best total performance in any one NBA dunk contest.

To be fair, Tatum had to take the high-difficulty half-court shot because he was way behind in the earlier part.
Were you the guy that posted in the Patriots/Falcons Super Bowl thread that they only had that awesome comeback because they were down 28-3?

Lol. My point was that the earlier parts of the contest DID matter, since they forced Tatum into a higher risk shot than he'd otherwise have taken.

Gordon and LaVine will never be in a dunk contest again. That's kinda why the dunk contest sucks.

around the way
No, no you are not.
I think that the jersey was just a nod of respect. Since Cole tried to dunk in street clothes without warming up and almost did, it's fair to assume that he played at some point in his life.

If you have a 16yo boy, you know who J Cole is. Some of his stuff is pretty good.

There were 4 decent dunks in the contest and Diallo had 3 of them

What were the judges doing in the final round of scoring? That was weird

People missing dunks 4 times in a row and still getting 33 or 40, that has to go. Miss once, ok. Miss 3 or 4 times, and you should just be eliminated.

Let's go Team NOTLEBRON Giannis
It's basically good guys v. bad guys, right? The five A-list superstar dicks/mercenaries (LeBron, KD, Harden, Kawhi, Kyrie) v. four guys still on the teams that drafted them (Giannis, Steph, Kemba, Embiid) plus PG13, who's uber-beloved for sticking with his small market team when everyone thought he was 100% gone to La-La Land.

Even the two throwback players (Dirk v. Wade) are kinda good guy v. villain. All they needed to do to complete the theme was get Klay and Lillard on the good team in exchange for Blake Griffin.

Embiid is a bad guy but yeah, your point is well-made.
