the Twins need to sign Gerrit Cole, find another bullpen piece, and hope that Berrios rebounds. All that needs to go right before seriously considering them against the big boys.

What an embarrassment; there's not a Gashouse Gorilla fan on the planet who thought "Oh no, not the Twins in the first round", they are to the Gashouse Gorillas what the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters.

If ever there was a fraud 101 win team, this one is it.

the only hope MIN has is that Severino sucks again like last ALDS game 3 and they get some momentum on offense to just out-clobber them. but it just feels impossible to do that three games in a row.

Baby steps ... they had a lead in game 1 for a moment or two
I was wrong. Its like McGregor fighting a baby who can barely take baby steps. It doesn't matter if the Twins can get a few more - the Yankees bullpen is likely to win the battle.

The Twins aren't going to get annihilated because of some mystique and aura the Yankees hold over them. They're going to get annihilated because they have probably the worst pitching staff of any team that's ever won 100 games.
Ha, which 100-win teams would be the contenders for that "coveted" title?

The 2004 Yankees are in there, Mussina and freaking Jon Lieber as their #2 SP. They won 101 games and had a great offense, but their Pythagorean record was just 89-73.

Minnesota should petition to get moved to the NL. At least they'd have a chance of not meeting the Yankees in the playoffs pretty much every time they qualify.

If the Yankees are the Gashouse Gorillas, are the Astros Bugs Bunny?

I just saw that the Twins have lost 12 straight against the Yankees in the playoffs. It takes a fucking effort to do that.

Going to agree with this and say they’re the best example. Two 100+ win teams have had a team ERA+ of sub 100: 2017 Astros at 99, 2004 Yankees at 96.

Honorable mention to the 1976 Reds, exactly at 100, yet still remain the only team since 1969/LCS introduction to go undefeated in the playoffs.

the 2004 Yankees overperformed by 12 games? you could say regression was a real bitch after 19-8...

My god, the Twins are pathetic. I know that their historical record against the Yankees isn’t the reason they’re getting rolled but it’s pretty remarkable how every damn year they just put up zero fight, no matter if it’s the playoffs or a Tuesday night in June.

I mean, Yankee fans are collectively awful (there is a reason I am here) but 1) so is pretty much every fan base and 2) that is just a way of yelling 'you suck!' with slightly more information about the guy. They could have just yelled "you suck!" and been correct, but this seems preferable and at least a bit funnier.

Edit: Also, I didn't actually watch it before posting, that is just the bleacher creatures who chant at everyone. Really, someone is offended by this?

This says it better than me:

"See, no one is being hurt here. No one is really offended by this. Are Yankees fans still bad? Yes, because they are Yankees fans, but that has nothing to do with this.

The truth is, all chants are stupid.

Remember when Bill Simmons started a Twitter account to organize chants at Boston Celtics games? It was incredibly lame. Just like the Uber chant. Some chants are offensive, but this one wasn't it. It's only offensive in the way that the wave is offensive. It's not really, it's just kind of annoying."

https://www.thebiglead.com/posts/yankees-fans-chanted-uber-at-randy-dobnak-and-the-internet-was-offended-on-his-behalf-01dpfap7bh52
Also that article doesn't even mention that every single preview of this game mentioned Dobnak being an Uber driver, because it's notable and amusing. He wasn't an Uber driver five years ago, he was completely undrafted out of college two years ago, started the year in A ball, drove Uber THIS SEASON to help make ends meet (yes, clearly minor league players should be paid more as I have written about a lot), but the bigger point is that he should certainly never be starting game 2 of the ALDS after 28 big league innings. This was the general feeling before the game, this was the main reason behind the chants, and this opinion was of course proven correct after he left with no outs in the third, having allowed 8 of the 13 batters he faced to reach base.

TL/DR: Plenty of good reasons to hate the Yankees and their fans, but this ain't one of them.

classic Twins Yankees... Gleyber muscles one barely out for a 1-0 lead. then the Twins squander bases loaded 0 outs.

It's going to take the Twins 86 years to win a playoff game against these fuckers. Forget winning a series - that's going to take a millennium.

losing 15/16 games that are at least relatively close to coinflips in a row should be impossible, it must be unbearable to be a fan of the twins this century

At this point I don't know who annoys me more - the Yankees, or the Twins for gifting the Yankees a berth in the ALCS every time they meet in the playoffs.
