And they deserved it, Atlanta gets a lot of criticism as a not particularly good pro sports town.

I have family on the gulf coast and everything you say is true, but the fact they don’t draw flies on the weekend when traffic isn’t an issue and the fact their owner wants to build a Triple-A sized ballpark with 28,000 seats is incriminating.
Have you been to the Trop? It's air-conditioned. So, there is that.

Verlander didn't have it, but I still think it was the right move to start him. In '04, Houston opted to not pitch Clemens on short rest to close out the series, and ended up losing to St. Louis.

Makes it an easy decision when you have Cole waiting in the wings.

Nightmare scenario unfolding for Yankees haters. If there is a game 5, both teams are going full throttle on their best arms to win. Perhaps they should let the 1 seed pick their opponent. That would be fair and entertaining.I'd assume Houston would go for Minnesota.

Maybe, maybe not. Minnesota won the season series. I think Houston would have still preferred the Rays.

The MFY are winning the WS. Anyone want to sublet my room in Brooklyn? I need to claim refugee status.

They won 97 games, dude.
They can win 105 next year and the attendance will still suck. It will suck until they get out of that dump and move into a new joint in downtown Tampa. The Lightning have sold out every home game for years (19,092) in downtown Tampa. So, there's probably a lot more going on here than just a crappy fan base. - Dude

TB had to give up a top 50 prospect to get Anderson at the deadline, but the part no one talks about is that MIA just got him last winter for very little. Who gifted him to MIA? Yep, our beloved Twins.

Houston would definitely pick Minnesota, just to keep them from forfeiting to NY.

Everything is coming up Milhouse for the Yankees in the playoffs, just like it has all season. They'll probably get Washington in the world series, and Strasburg will get in a big car accident before the first game, when he slams his car into Scherzer's.

My daughter threw 220 pitches across 3 games last weekend. These Rays pitchers are coddled little boys who can’t survive if they face more than 5 batters. Yet, they get millions of dollars, while the vastly superior game of softball barely has something you could call a professional league.

I know this post is just another piece of your long series of SoSH performance art installments but if there is even a hint of truth to your daughter's pitch count, you ought to be tried for war crimes and sentenced to a lifetime solitary confinement with only stale bread, warm water and picture of Chris Sale's extension on your otherwise blank walls.

Add softball pitching to things you know nothing about. My daughter’s a big girl and her pitching coach is among the best in the world. Last year, Meghan King and Rachel Garcia pitched 14 innings in game 1, then started game 2.

This stadium sucks. It’s part of why I hate the the Rays so much. What a joke. “If it was in fair territory then it’s be a live pinball, but because it hit in foul territory it’s a dead pinball. Total joke.

I thought you were a free market capitalist? Your posts on baseball sound like they’re written by the baseball version of the Teamsters or something. Let’s stifle innovation and protect the status quo at all costs! Pitch the way it’s always been done! Draw little boxes on the field to prevent shifts!

I didn't assume she played softball - I figured that it was baseball. That said, you are right - I know nothing about a long list of things. At least one of us is ok admitting that. You just ghost everyone who exposes you.

With a healthy dose of "Get off my lawn".

And with that interlude, the Stros are on the board!

The Rays are a fucking amazing franchise. No team that I can think of does more with less. They have three pitchers making more than $1 million and one is on a 1 year 1.25m deal. One misstep screws them. Yet they find a way to be competitive most years and they change their identity as they need to. And the quality of the pitching year after year after year. I’m saying shit everyone knows and has been said a million times but damn they deserve respect.

And they deserve a real park and a fan base that appreciates what these guys are able to do.

Of course I want the Yankees to lose every single game for the next thousand years. I do kind of like the idea of the Rays knocking them out instead of the Astros knocking them out. I'm not saying it will happen but that's the way my wish casting is directed.
No lost honor in losing to the Astros, but losing to the Rays? Juicy. As I type this the Rays are gagging. Come on boys.

To me they’ll always be the franchise that employed Gerald Williams when he charged the mound on the first pitch of the game in a ploy to get Pedro Martinez ejected because they couldn’t beat him.

Then they were the franchise that employed three more sore losers who tried and field to bean Brian Daubach in retaliation for Gerald Williams charging Pedro Martinez or something.

I’ve always hated them too. Fucking Genius Madden with costume day. But maybe seeing them in this context makes me grudgingly respect them.

I like this version of the Rays, in the same way that I like the current version of the Colts
