Mr. Boone:

Why didn’t you bring Chapman in in the 8th with the game on the line?

Why did you allow Chapman to give Altuve anything with 2 balls and Marisnick on deck?

I'm on EST so it was a perfect start to the 15th anniversary of another famous YED! Time to break out the 2004 DVDs and celebrate in style.

Defensible sure, but I do wonder what the saber-heads would say. Altuve needing an extra base his vs Marisnick needing a single.
I think it goes either way. You have your closer on the mound and you don't expect your closer to pitch around anyone. The call to pitch to Altuve is one thing but the truth was that he just didn't have his stuff. He was back to hitting 102/103 in September. I think we saw 100 a couple times this series but he just didn't have it after the 2nd out. Just gotta shrug I guess.

Altuve, Bregman and Correa leave the set. Simple handshakes for Afraud, hugs by all for Papi. The man is beloved.

100 mph doesn't mean nearly as much as it used to.

Yea but that's not really what I'm getting at. Just that Chapman wasn't even close tonight. He was throwing 98s 14 inches off the plate and then fooled Altuve once on a slider, second time went over the fence. He had no FB.

Boone wasn't going to put the winning run in scoring position, even with Marisnick coming up. I get the argument (especially since Altuve has hit him well in a very small sample size) but no manager would do that, even in today's game, unless they were virtually unfireable.

It doesn't need to be any more complicated than you say. Altuve beat Chapman.

Especially with Sanchez behind the plate.

another thing about the 2018 'Stros is they still had Tyler White, a real scrub, getting significant ABs. they upgraded with Brantley this year.

you can't discredit the '18 Sox or anything, but I think on average an ALCS goes longer than 5 games with the '18 Stros.
