It's who we thought it would be as of... May, honestly. Again, let's use this thread and leave jon abbey & friends alone for the most part.

Paxton vs Greinke on Saturday for game 1, probably Tanaka vs. Verlander for game 2.

EDIT: Boone swapped Paxton & Tanaka. Boone be Boone.

my 02 cents unlees the yanks can get into hou pen early at least 4 times i dont see how they win one of the only paths for NY is win game 1'3'4 and most likely 5 game 3 shouild be cole vs serino i say astos in 7

yes, before the series starts, i only want to imagine a world where the yankees are absolutely humiliated by the astros. their fear is palpable after all the rooting for the rays yesterday and today. Houston, please. Crush them

What he said; there will be no march of the tomato cans for the Gashouse Gorillas if they hope to get to the World Series, you've got to beat the best to get there now.

Best of luck with all that you assbags.

The Yankees did a great job seeing pitches and working up the pitch count of Twins starters. That’s going to be key vs Houston. If they can get Houston starters to throw 100+ pitches in five/six innings, they can get into the underbelly of the Astros middle relief.

NY doesn’t have the starters to match Houston’s Big 3, but they have a decided edge in bullpen. Yankees in 7.

They won't be able to take the same approach vs. Houston. Verlander/Cole/Greinke have really good control. If anything, the Yankees need to be more aggressive at the plate and swing at pitches earlier in the count.

Yeah, MIN was scared to throw them strikes, and once Odorizzi did, he was mildly successful. Cole and Verlander will come right at them, the question is Greinke and game 1.

Cole and Verlander are lethal inside the zone, that's the problem. Also, in the ALCS 2017, Judge was absolutely destroyed by the umpires. He has the patience to lay off the ones that are close but Verlander was getting every single call when he was on the mound which forced Judge to swing more than he wanted. I think Stanton is going to have a really tough series.

So are they just planning on starting Greinke in 1 and 4?
No, probably Urquidy. Miley hasn't been a realistic option for anything for weeks, he gave up 21 ERs in 11 innings in September, NY would eat him alive.

They can't move Greinke up to game 4 (on 3 days rest) because then Verlander would have to pitch game 5 on 3 days rest and we just saw how well that went. Game 4 will be 4th starters for both sides, Urquidy against Happ (maybe with Green opening depending on how much he has to pitch the preceding games).

Whew; I got this thing as a toss-up. Two very good offensive teams with an edge in pitching to Houston in starting. NY has the edge in back end bullpen. Still gonna say Hou in 7. Let it be really fun games! No stress watching as a Sox fan.

So 1, 5 Greinke, 2, 6 Cole, 3, 7 Verlander, 5 Urquidy got it. Figured Miley as a lefty in YS would be a better option to at least start the game but Hinch feels differently. Urquidy is probably the better pitcher at this point even as a rookie.

I know the feeling. Once your team exits, baseball is fun to watch, instead of torture. That’s why nobody repeats anymore. Fans can’t take the pressure.

Houston fans ignoring A-Rod and enthusiastically chanting "Papi" during the pregame set - I love it.

"So you like the Yankees, Papi," said Arod."Well, you should like them, too," replied Ortiz. "They send you a check every month."
So great to see him well enough to crack wise.

Bummmed the Sox were bad this year but as a baseball fan, this should be a great series. Astros in 7.

I don't get batting Brantley second instead of Alvarez. That guy needs the more at-bat chances

Tanaka pitches great in the postseason (including 3 games against HOU) and also against HOU in general, but yeah, I think it is also that he is usually better at home and this way he at least gets one game there (game 5).

Ok, makes sense. Thanks.
