Brandon Doolitte, ESPN: The laser beam Houston's Yordan Alvarez hit off Masahiro Tanaka in the fifth inning left the bat at 110.1 miles per hour, according to Statcast. That makes it the hardest hit ball of the night and the fifth time the Astros have reached triple digits in exit velocity. The results from that: Diddly squat.
He had knee issues and finally got surgery in August and missed a month, but hasn't been the same since coming back. To be fair, NY also hit him hard in a June game when he was at his best.
the Astros not winning it all while having a Cole would be a damn shame. but they look a bit overmatched at the present moment.
I mean, Chapman clearly helped the Cubs end their drought but that trade has to hurt. This kid is already one of the best players in the game.
that trade absolutely hurts. the Cubs window is coming to an end and they could have used a premium infielder with Zobrist close to done and Russell having domestic issues.

Yup. They make that trade every time but Torres is going to be a star.

also the Yanks traded Sheffield for Paxton who does not look good at all in early MLB action. Sheffield was also part of the Chapman return.
as fun as it was for Mookie to clobber 3 HR off of Paxton in July, he looks like a top SP right now and that's all that matters really.

He is an old 25, though, back problems throughout two consecutive seasons to the point where he has to lie in the aisle on plane rides.
ah yes, modern baseball. can't have Tanaka face the third time through the order no matter what.
He's young enough that he'll probably finally break down and have back surgery and finally get it taken care of.
