An article I just read said that this season only theee players have scored on an isolation play matched up against Giannis. That is insane. The three players are Julius Randle, Shabaz Napier and Marcus Smart.
All from the 2014 draft. That means nothing but seems fun to note.

I read an article earlier this year about Waters (I'm sure it's linked somewhere in this forum) that said scouts from other teams are high on him. Not that anyone thinks he'll be a star, or even a starter, but it said something about every team needing a third PG and that they think he'll be great in that role. It seems like he'll have a job in the NBA despite his size if he continues to develop.

Edit: I went looking for the article because, well, it's the right thing to do if I'm going to mention it. I couldn't find an article but I may have been thinking of this string of tweets.

cherry-pick alert, since he played so few NBA minutes.

BUT the 2 games when he played his most minutes, in close games, he posted a +20 (vs SAC in 19 mins) and a +17 (vs. PHO in 16mins). I like his on-ball defense, likes to gamble on the perimeter

optimistic that Tre can be the C's 3rd string PG next season OR used with our draft picks to add talent in a trade (if scouts view him as a legit back-up PG)

I was hoping after four months there wouldn’t be any concern with Kemba’s knee or reason to bring him along slowly. Hopefully it’s just out of an abundance of caution. Small guards with lingering knee problems don’t project well into their 30s.

I think it's an abundance of caution. He could have worked the knee hard during this break but still not be certain of how it will react during basketball moves against real competition.

In passing, Jared Weiss is talking to Danny Leroux on Real GM Radio (Actually a podcast) today for 1.5 hours about the Celtics. Worth listening to if you're starved for content.

Sure feels like that knee would have had surgery if he had 3 months off to heal, but the unknown of the schedule made that infeasible because they didn’t know when they’d play again, even though they ended up having 4 months off. If they do get through this season and then have a quick turnaround to next year, it also potentially takes away another opportunity to do so.

Maybe I’m paranoid, but if a knee is still a problem after 4 months off, I’m not optimistic on Kemba bouncing back to full speed here.

Agreed on everything except the bold. If surgery is what it takes to fix this he should have it asap after the season, even if it means he misses part of the next. With or without Kemba they'll be a playoff team (if they hold on to Hayward they are probably still a top 4 team in the east), no need to rush him back for the start of a season, even a shortened one.

People still think next season will start on time? December is still this year. Will they have a vaccine this year? Possible, but doubtful. Or they are doing a bubble again next season?

So yeah, definitely do it immediately after this season.

“I actually feel like I got a little bit quicker, a little bit faster,” Williams said Sunday. “But being out those three and a half months, it gave my body time to heal. I got some good treatment, some good work in, and I’m ready to prove it on the court.”

Last week Kanter gushed about the way Williams was soaring in recent practices. On Sunday, guard Marcus Smart echoed some of that sentiment. He said the game appears to have slowed down for Williams, and that he looks healthy and ready.

“I think our defense can go up another level,” Smart said. “We got somebody back there that can protect the rim. No offense to the other guys on our team, but Rob is a different type of freak of nature when it comes to athleticism, and the ability to go and change shots at the rim. So that allows us to pick up our pressure a little bit more as guards. And really, really, really just give the opposing team problems.”

Ah, spring training. "They're in the best shape of their lives!"

Kemba has arthritis in his knee. More than likely, just bad luck rather than some fault of the medical staff. He's been very durable until this year, so hard to imagine they should have known before signing him.

Sometimes these things wax and wane, maybe he'll get over this hump. But it's definitely concerning and could be a lingering thing the rest of his career.

Should be some decent PG prospects in range of the Memphis pick. I think it would be a good idea to invest in one. Kemba is now an undersized 30 year-old PG with a bothersome knee. He’ll probably need to be managed going forward so would be a food idea to groom his eventual replacement.

Yeah, photographic evidence aside, Jaylen is one of the last people in sports I am concerned about not taking the virus seriously.

Uh, Jaylen...
Yeah, though realistically these guys practice and play without masks so the players risk profile doesn't change at all. The non-players, though, in theory have more exposure to Jaylen because of his lack of a mask I suppose...
