1.City
2. Spurs
3. Liverpool
4. Man U
5. Chelsea
6. Arsenal

18. Aston Villa
19. Burnley
20. Sheffield United

I think that Spurs, Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal will all be better than they were last season and the gap between them and Liverpool/City is smaller than it was last season. Spurs have had a shockingly productive transfer window so far, and with some regression from Liverpool I could see through lily white glasses Spurs having a chance to usurp them as runner-up to City.

United I think will just be better with a full season without Mourinho. Chelsea lost Hazard and lost a pretty good manager and replaced him with a rookie. Arsenal will be better than last season but I just don't think they have the talent to be placed ahead of the other five. That being said, I think that pretty much any arrangement of 2-6 could be possible this year.

1. City - 98 points last season and KDB played only 11 matches. I'd say the CBs are a cut below the rest of the squad talent-wise, but how many opponents will really put them to the test?

2. Spurs - if they retain Eriksen, I really like what they have done. I think they come back hungry and at home in their new stadium. They'll even withstand the mandatory 5 week Harry Kane injury.

3. Liverpool - I can see them falling off last year's pace by about 10 points, which is still a fantastic season.

4. Arsenal

5. ManU

6. Leicester - Provided they replace Maguire with Dunk/Tarkowski/similar, this is a well built squad with solid manager.

7. Wolves

8. Chelsea - I do not see the Lampard experiment going well.

9. Everton

10. West Ham - This second tier of 5 teams are very hard to separate & could finish in any order.

11. Bournemouth

12. Norwich - I like how they played last season, hope they can bring some attacking-minded swagger to matches against the bottom half and cruise to safety.

13. Palace

14. Soton

15. Watford

16. Newcastle

17. Aston Villa - man, they spent a lot of money this window and really, really need to stay up

18. Burnley

19. Brighton

20. Sheffield

Golden Boot - Harry Kane

Player of the Season - Bernardo Silva. I think he's going to blow up this year.

Golden Glove - Alison

Manager of the Season - Poch

Young Player of the Season - Rashford

I have no idea who is going to win the Golden Boot. I think Kane is going to play a different role this season and play more as a hold-up guy than in the past, and that will cut into his goal total a bit. Aguero is getting up there; Salah and Mane are probably the two best options right now imo. PEA has a good shot as well. Maybe Rashford breaks out?

I think Everton is going to get in to top 6. Moise Kean will have a big impact. Gbamin for Gueye, adding Gomes... This is the stock I'd buy to rise.

I'll do something after the first week of fixtures because I think there is still transfer business to be done.

I don't think the top 6 is going to change though but if anyone has a chance of getting in there its Wolves.

I think all three of Leicester, Everton, and Wolves have a decent chance of breaking up the top six if things go right for them in terms of health, form, and luck. Both United and Chelsea are going to struggle mightily to score goals and have (in my view at least) mediocre-until-proven-otherwise managers and they'll each be dealing with European football while Everton and Leicester will not.

City will likely fall back to earth a little bit (how can they not?) but they'll still win the league fairly comfortably as Liverpool falls back even further and Spurs just don't have enough to seriously push a team of City's level.

The 718
1. City- all your base are belong to us
2. Liverpool- did not do enough (anything?) to improve; winning the CL meant a long season; depth/stamina will be an issue
3. Spurs- could challenge for second with additions
4. Everton- dare to dream! Kean/Richarlison/Siggy/Iwobi unit runs wild; Mina emerges as stud (depth at CB is Achilles heel here)
5. Arsenal - wins lots of 4-3 games; here mostly by default
6. Chelsea - Pusilic will be good; Abraham breaks out; but with Hazard gone there's not enough here
7. Leicester - did not get a chance to spend the Maguire money; defense obviously weaker; but Tielemans and Perez will be huge
8. Utd - Ole vs Pogba tanks the season; bad bad bad vibes; Wan-B is good but not that good; one CB in a bad defense doesn't do much
9. West Ham - my sleeper - Haller is a beast
10. Wolves- that Europa spot is a poisoned chalice; Nuno ran the same XI into the ground last year and they didn't add enough; midweek flights to Transylvania will sap their strength
11. Watford- did you know that Elton John is an owner?
12. Southampton - quietly improved; could push higher
13. Brighton - also better than people think
14. Villa - have no idea who all these people are
15. Bournemouth - hurry up and score so we can get the ball back
16. Norwich - keeping them up for SJH; love the kits
17. Burnley- I forgot about them and they should be higher but I'm not redoing this
18. Palace- they have no idea what they're doing; sorry, jk
19. Sheffield Utd- sending them back down for dummyhoy
20. Newcastle- this is sad; these fans deserve better; sorry Joe D Reid

Boot- Aguero
Player of the Season- Son
Glove- Alisson
Young player of the year- Kean

1. City - still the best
2. Spurs - better than last year
3. Liverpool - not sure they can repeat last season, but still amazing team
4. Arsenal - they've brought in so many good players, something has to work
5. Chelsea - Hazard hurts, but still lots of talent
6. Man U - I think they may do better than this
7. Everton - I like their moves, keep your mitts off of Zaha
8. Leicester - just better than the rest of rest, how will they spend Maguire money?
9. West Ham - now I'm just starting to guess
10. Watford - I loathe this team
11. Bournemouth - and hate this one
12. Wolves - I don't see them being able to repeat, especially if they play a lot in Europe
13. Southampton - OCST says they're quietly improved
14. Norwich - I heard they're exciting
15. Burnley - I don't know how they do it, but they do
16. Newcastle - missing Rafa
17. Palace - I'd take this right now if it were offered to me. I fear it could be worse.
18. Villa - maybe they'll do better, I have no idea
19. Brighton - they really struggled last year and Hughton was a good manager
20. Sheffield - seems like they were fortunate to make it up, so they're going back down

“Sheffield” isn’t a team guys.

While it makes me sick to my stomach to say it, I think they may be okay this season. Chris Wilder, while a complete douche, is one of the most innovative managers in football- I won’t be shocked to see him keep this squad afloat. I’m rooting for 0-46-0 of course.

Tier One: The Easy Part
1.City

2. Pool
3. Spurs

*I'm kind of concerned about Liverpool's front 3 having had no summertime off for a couple of years now. But then I remember that they have FB who are probably getting better, Keita will play this season, Ox will be back (we'll see how he returns), and there's probably a few youths I don't know that Klopp has been prepping to unleash on us all. So I'm not going to put Spurs ahead of them. But I'm really looking forward to seeing those two go at it...twice in the league and I can see some cup draws too*

Tier Two: The Europe Contenders
4. Leicester
5. Arsenal
6. Everton
7. Chelsea
8. ManU
9. Wolves

*Any of these teams could finish anywhere from 4 to 9.
He's a complete tool, but Brendan Rodgers can coach. The Maguire loss is something, but given that they want to play further up the pitch, he doesn't fit that style. They'll spend that $$ where they need it in January. If they can cover CB, they're going to be a terror to play. Between Vardy, Maddison, Perez, Grey, the Belgian duo...fearsome. And keep an eye on James Justin at RB- I'm curious to see how he adjusts to the jump from L1, but he's a beast and a future England player. Arsenal over-performed their peripherals last season, but they've had a nice window and Emery has a year under his belt. I would love for Everton to finish higher, but it feels a bit like their impressive talent acquisition didn't all fit quite right...happy to be proven wrong. Jury is out on Lamps for me, but I think their young talent gives them enough to buy him some time. United just feels like impending doom, but they could finish 4th. I don't know. I'm very high on Wolves, but Europe and lack of depth will hurt too much this year I think. If they're out early and add in January, I can see a legit CL spot challenge*

Tier Three: Existential Mid Table Crisis
10. West Ham
11. Watford
12. Southampton

13. Bournemouth

*I mean, (shrug emoji). I would kill all of you for Wednesday to be in this group*

Tier Four: Hold on to your Butts
14. Brighton
15. Villa
16. Burnley
17. Pigs
18. Palace (sorry @jkempa )
19. Newcastle (sorry about 15 of you)
20. Norwich (sorry @Smiling Joe Hesketh )

*Graham Potter is great, but something doesn't seem to fit in Brighton. I could have put them lower. Villa is a toss up, Burnley is Burnley. Additional Pig praise here- their set pieces are a thing of beauty. Palace feels a bit of a mess, especially if Wilf gets sulky. Newcastle is a cesspool right now and I don't think Bruce is a PL manager...but it may work if the goal is just to survive. I can see them pulling through in 15th or Brucie given the cabbage treatment by Halloween. If Pukki can score at this level, they may just hang on. I don't think he does. Farke is a goddamn genius though- when someone gets him a budget to work with, he'll get his due.

City - More of the same with more De Bruyne. I don't see them getting knocked off.
Liverpool - Would be Champions if City weren't around. A draw with City at home and a loss at the Emptyhad will be the difference. Again.
Spurs - I feel like they took a turn this summer. There's restlessness after the CL final loss and it seemed like Eriksen wanted out.
Wolves - This year's Leicester, minus the win given the quality at the top.
Arsenal - Did enough to get above a Chelsea that lost too much.
United - They have barely enough to get into Europe next year, but not by much.
Everton - Should have had enough but will crumple in central defense.
Chelsea - Lampard is going to regret this.

In any order...

West Ham - Meh
Leicester - I think people forget how fucking stupid this guy got toward the end at Liverpool. Insane formations and player usage were the norm. He fell upward at Celtic. He gets canned.
Bournemouth - Stingy at the back, stingy at the front.
Watford - Yawn
Newcastle - They'll buy something shiny and expensive in the winter to keep them up.
Villa - Spent too much to go down.
Palace - Sad Zaha is not good Zaha.
Burnley - More meh.
Brighton - Too exciting to go down. Or something.

Relegated

Southampton - Not a lot of standouts in the LFC trial crowd, but we'll see who goes to Merseyside at the Winter window. They finally get bitten just hard enough by the suck bug to go down.
Norwich - We'll see them again in '21.
Sheffield - Now you see them, now you don't.

Golden Boot - Salah
Player of the Season - De Bruyne
Golden Glove- Alisson
Young player of the year- Kean

1. City. They hit 98 points last season while maybe their best player barely played. The only risks are a) Pep burnout, b) boredom, or c) they focus more on Europe. But they're heavy favorites to cruise to the title.

GAP

2. Liverpool. Due for some regression. They were good last year but not 97-point good, and I'd be a little concerned about their depth if one of their key players gets hurt. They need big minutes from Salah/Mane and those guys didn't get a break this summer with the ACON.
3. Spurs. Massively upgrading the midfield means they should be much better than last season. They finally got a summer break for most of their key players. The stadium is done. I think they will push Liverpool for 2nd, but they probably don't have the horses to keep up with City.

GAP

4. Leicester City. I'm not convinced by rest of the big 6. I think there's a clear top 3 this year and then a group of 5-6 teams that could battle it out for 4th. I really like how Leicester have built this team, and I'm looking forward to the Brodgessaince.
5. Chelsea. Lost their best and most important player, and I'm not sold on Lampard as a manager. Some fun pieces but they look like they are punting hte
6. Man Utd. The defense should be better with Maguire and AWB. But they still don't really have any defensive midfielders, the team culture/management is a mess, and I'm not sold on OGS either. There is some potential upside here, but I think they continue to flounder.
7. Arsenal. Last year Arsenal had an excellent attack regularly undermined by a porous defense. So they spent a bunch of money marginally improving the attack while doing little to fix the defense. I don't get it. Why won't this team have the same problems they did last year?
8. Everton. They will be fun to watch and they'll claim some big scalps at Goodison, but I don't see them having the consistency to challenge for the Top 4.
9. West Ham. A really intriguing attacking group, but light in midfield and at the back.
10. Wolves. They were probably the best of the chasing pack lat year, but they have mostly stood still while teams around them have improved. And I wonder if teams may figure them out a little bit more the second time around.

GAP

11. Watford. This time was decent last year and I don't know how. They'll probably be fine again?
12. Bournemouth. They held onto their key pieces (Wilson, Fraser, Brooks), so they'll be good enough to be midtable mediocrity rather than in the relegation battle.

GAP

13. Crystal Palace. Not good enough to be totally secure, but good enough to be eventually be safe.
14. Newcastle. Enough talent here that they should juusst stay up, I think? But probably the most depressing team in the league to support. Steve Bruce could easily take them down.
15. Aston Villa. I like Grealish so I'm probably unreasonably high on their prospects.
16. Norwich. The Championship champion has a fairly good record recently at avoiding relegation, so I think they can stay up. Plus we need their all-yellow kit in the league.
17. Southampton. Can they escape again? One of these years they're going to screw it up and get relegated.

Relegation:

18. Burnley. The magic has to end eventually.
19. Brighton. What do they do well again?
20. Sheffield United. Admittedly I know very little about the Blades, but somebody has to finish last.

Golden boot: Harry Kane.
Player of the Season: Raheem Sterling
First Manager Fired: Ralph Hasenhuttl

1. Citeh - Still have the best squad in Europe IMO. Strengthened their best XI. This is the year Jesus supplants Aguero - it has to be.
2. Spurs - Much deeper this season. Is still Spurs.
3. Liverpool - due for a bit of hangover. Didn't reinforce much. If Klopp finds similar success again, his reputation will go up even further in my estimation.
4. Arsenal - Impressed with their moves this summer. Will be fun to watch their matches which promise to be high scoring.
5. United - This could easily be the year of Rashford. CBs still shaky even with Maguire, will anyone step up in MF, can the attack score enough without Rom (see: Year of Rashford)?
6. Everton - Really liked their summer.
7. Chelsea - Despite a talented squad, they lost their best player and I don't trust Lampard. Will probably finish top 6 because Chelsea.
8. Wolves. Could finish top 6.
9. Leceister. Will not likely finish top 6.

Don't know enough about the rest.

Bonus prediction, the best watch for neutrals outside the traditional top 6 is going to be West Ham. Tons of attacking talent and an attacking mindset. Very little in defense. Going to be a whole lot of 4-3, 2-3 etc. Preseason vs. Bilbao and Hertha were ridiculously end to end.

City is just too good. Liverpool had a near perfect season and couldn't pull it off. Don't think they'll be as close this year.

Chelsea will be the biggest drop. Losing Hazard for Pulisic and Sarri for Lampard will be a big drop for them and they have no opportunity to strengthen at the January transfer.

I agree with almost everything @Dummy Hoy said.

City is in their own tier. Liverpool and Spurs after that.

1. City. Might not be clearly the best 11, but with their depth, something out of the ordinary will have to happen for them to not win.

2. Liverpool. Can their front 3 hold up? Ox coming back is huge, but they haven't done anything to improve what was clearly the 2nd best team last season to make me think they can challenge City.
3. Spurs. As a fan, it's still hilarious to me that last year's team is the one that was the most successful since I've been following. Loved the ride, but there was a lot of luck involved. Their midfield was a joke last season, they bought Ndombele and Lo Celso, and now it's a strength. I'm cautiously very optimistic.

Then the 4-9 teams are the most fascinating to me. I think things could get really weird in this tier this season. And if Liverpool or Spurs have a couple of serious injuries, there's the possibility for a real goat rodeo.

4. Man U. Gun to my head, I think this is the team I'd pick, because of pure talent (Pogba is easily the best player in this tier), and somewhat due to reputation. But they're a mess and their coach seems incompetent. AWB is legit and fixes a huge problem for them defensively. Maguire helps too, but his value is more in his offense They'll miss Lukaku and Herrera. If Pogba is sold, they're in big trouble.
5. Leicester. They're Arsenal, without the history. Huge hole on defense, huge talent everywhere else.
6. Arsenal. They're Leicester, with more insufferable fans ;-) I don't get the Pepe signing. With the holes they have on defense, playing him with Obama and Lacazette is going to be suicide. Will be circling the Arsenal/West Ham games to watch this season.
7. Everton. Everton is going to Everton. The least volatile team in the group, I think. Iwobi is going to be very good for them, and will work nicely with Richard Arlison and Kean.
8. Wolves. The most volatile team in the group, I think. xG models had them as a top 6 team last season, but they struggled against inferior teams who parked the bus. If they can adapt to situations where they're the superior team, and they punt Europa, I think they can do damage. If they do neither of those things, they're going to have a rough season. They're not deep enough to compete in Europe right now.
9. Chelesa. Ok they finished 4th and got rid of their best player and manager. And a bunch of depth guys. That's not going to end well. But I like their plan of using the transfer ban (which they very likely could have won an appeal on) to give them cover to rebuild for a season.

They are who we thought they were / Comfortably mediocre:
Bournemouth
Palace
Southampton
Watford

Same, but with much more exciting games (echoing CellarDoor):
West Ham

Let's see here:

1. Off to a roaring start...Citeh - Still have the best squad in Europe IMO. Strengthened their best XI. This is the year Jesus supplants Aguero - it has to be. It does not. Aguero had 2 more goals in ~9 less matches.
2. Spurs - Much deeper this season. Is still Spurs. 1/2 right at best.
3. Liverpool - due for a bit of hangover. Didn't reinforce much. If Klopp finds similar success again, his reputation will go up even further in my estimation. At least one thing I said is true!
4. Arsenal - Impressed with their moves this summer. Will be fun to watch their matches which promise to be high scoring. While Tierney delivered, just about no one else really did.
5. United - This could easily be the year of Rashford. CBs still shaky even with Maguire, will anyone step up in MF, can the attack score enough without Rom (see: Year of Rashford)? Not quite the year of Rashford, the CBs were shaky but team D was excellent, but they probably didn't score enough for their own liking.
6. Everton - Really liked their summer. Too bad.
7. Chelsea - Despite a talented squad, they lost their best player and I don't trust Lampard. Will probably finish top 6 because Chelsea. I owe Frenk an apology. I don't like that I hate this club less lately.
8. Wolves. Could finish top 6. Smartest thing I said.
9. Leceister. Will not likely finish top 6. Should've finished in top 4 and had to settle for 5.

Don't know enough about the rest. Didn't know enough about the above either!

Yikes.

The 718

I am Captain Wrong from the planet Wrong, captain of the starship Wrong.

I never want to see Sigurdsson or Iwobi again

Haller is not a beast

At least everyone else whiffed on SHU, DH tried to warn us

Wolves are good

Maybe Pogba being out helped Ole?? Trying to save face here

Something it appears none of us saw coming was how big the Laporte injury was going to be to City and how quickly their defense fell apart when he went out earlier in the season. Their defense overall was still good, but it was a vulnerability that opened the door for Liverpool to pass them.

Yes.

The world class collection of midfielders and a good keeper let them hide the vulnerability *most* of the time.

Completely congratulating myself both for apparently not making a prediction and for calling Laporte injury as season over the minute it happened. City have tremendous depth but Laporte and KDB are the difference between being at that top tier and one rung down
