Got to really feel for the Baylor QB, his career may (and should) be over. This is his 3rd concussion in 6 weeks, and least the second really severe one

Yeah, it really killed the ratings for the usually stout Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
On January 3rd.

It is a game so worthy, the stands were basically empty for the entire game. The Potato Bowl is merely filler to get sporting fanatics to Saturday's playoff games. Filler doesn't have to be good, it just has to be there.

I can't believe there is so long between the playoff games. I was searching TV guie last night trying to figure out when/where the game was one, finally had to search to find out not until next week

Seems insane to me

It is insane. Basically, LSU and Clemson will have played one game in 6 weeks.

Now, if they could reframe it as the Sweet Potato Bowl...

It's also interesting to see that ESPN doesn't seem to be using the interim pause to hype the game that much. At least from where I sit, I've seen very little advertising for the game.

Maybe they wanted to stand clear of the NFL, but the CFP is on a Monday, so that doesn't seem to play.

I was listening to radio and they had the executive director for the playoff on. He said the problem was this semis were originally scheduled for NYE. But have since been changed because the ratings were so bad on NYE. So they were changed to Saturday 12/28. When the games were supposed to be played on the 12/31 that would have left less than a week before the championship game so they scheduled it for 1/13. And he said they weren't able to change the game to last night.

I was just coming here to post similar sentiments, the strangest sport. Everything all season is geared towards the top four teams and then those games come so much later (after an endless parade of 7-6 teams playing 8-5 teams) that not only are the teams often rusty in the first half but it kills all momentum as a fan, and now this year it kills it twice, in between the conference title games and the semifinals, and then again in between the semifinals and finals.

I'm pretty excited for North Dakota State-James Madison. Definitely not a year where we needed a 24-team tournament to determine who should be playing the in the championship.

As likely the only JMU grad on SoSH, I'm pretty amped for this. JMU is a -1.5 favorite, which is nuts to me considering that NDSU is a steamroller. Hope they're right...

LSU and Clemson won the semi final games approximately 14 weeks ago, it feels like.

My daughter is a sophomore there, and was going nuts because she thought she couldn't get back to campus for the ballgame (and the parties connected to it).
Fortunately, she got a ride back tomorrow.
Nice stadium there, 25K capacity, real nice outdoor facilities for all sports, 10k arena being built this year.

Hope they survive the hail and tornados tomorrow and then the 45 degree high and 20+ mph winds Saturday.

That could be the warmest game the Dukes have played since October.

11/9 New Hampshire: 40 degrees
11/16: Richmond: 43
11/23: @ Rhode Island: ?
12/7: Monmouth: low 40s
12/13: Northern Iowa: 36
12/21: Weber State: 32

Some snow in Dallas this AM to get things started.

Lots of wind too. The total on this game opened at 51 was bet down to 48 through last night then all hell broke loose this morning when it got as low as 43 before some buy back closed it at 44.5. Those who got in early got a great number here. There is one pro I know who played JMU so there's that.

Pretty impressive 18-play drive by JMU to open things up. Picked up 60 yards before they even saw a third down, then converted three straight third downs to finish it off. #31 might finish with 50 carries at this rate.

James Madison really ran the Andy Reid clock management program at the end there. What a terrible use of the time and the time outs.

They absolutely forgot that in that situation the offside penalty would not result in a stopped clock. Should have burned a time out; would have probably given them a chance to run 2 or 3 plays from the 1 before having to burn another time out. So they end up throwing an int that perhaps they never would have attempted.
Big blunders defensively cost them more. Giving up a 47 yard scramble TD on 3rd and 23 is an infamnia.

It should have been a stopped clock by rule. Rule 3-4-3

JMU completely butchered this clock. Down to 0:08 with two timeouts in their pocket. Dukes have 1st & Goal from the 2, down 28-20.
I was soooooo impressive how they had managed it up until the completion down to the 15(?). They were patient, took chunks of yards on the ground without panic.......then failed to use a TO after that completion which is inexcusable.
