I don’t think he has been terrible, but he’s not the answer in the short term for a team with Stanley a Cup aspirations.
We disagree on where they are as an organization. I don’t think they’re at the point where they should be making go for it now moves. I’m all for continuing to draft well and develop the kids. Figuring out whether guys like JFK can play is important long term.

80 shots versus Caps/Habs, 1 point to show for near-complete territorial domination. But for chronic SHG allowed, I think their game's in very good shape and they'll win far more of these than they lose. This kind of game should put a burr under their saddle.

They only have so much of the Bergeron/Krejci/Chara/Marchand window left. By the time they draft and develop their way, those guys could be ineffective or retired. I’d operate with a tad bit of urgency and look to upgrade the roster in the short term.

I don’t want to get in the habit of dealing 1sts every year like the Rangers did, but if something made sense where they got a legitimate center or top 6 RW with term left, I’d do it. I also don’t think they have any untouchable prospects or kids aside from Pasta and McAvoy.

Just saw the Domi/DeBrusk fracas, as I was putting our son to bed, did Tatar get anything for jumping on Jake after Max had already dropped his gloves?

I just don’t see that kind of deal out there. And I don’t want to trade Frederic, Studnicka, Lauzon, or Vaakanainen. I like their all of those kids and any team is going to want a first and one of those guys. So I’m ok sitting the trade deadline out. Sure if Sweeney can pull a Simmonds or Shenn for a 2nd and a B prospect it would be great but it’s probably unlikely.
