This is a nightmare. If Fleetwood gets another one and gets in at +1, if the winds pick up, and the greens bake some more, there might be 1 guy out there that doesn't shoot himself out of contention halfway through the back 9. Worst possible outcome is Fleetwood gets in, and everyone else falls apart, and the whole thing is over with a bunch of holes left to play.
It might happen, but right now guys who are playing well are destroying this course

I’m beginning to think the whole “afternoon winds” story is being overplayed. It’s 3:30, and unless they see a massive uptick in winds really soon, I don’t think it’s going to make the kind of difference people were thinking.

The big thing is that the pins are much easier today.

Edit: missed it by *that much*.

Yeah, I think Open pressure may build up and become a bigger issue than the wind, or baked green. It would be funny if after all the hand wringing yesterday the Open scoring record gets broken today (Fleetwood may not break it, but Reed has it in sight as well)

This time yesterday is when the winds picked up. We’ll see if it happens again.

The pins also aren’t on the edge of a cliff today. It’ll firm up some more, but I don’t think we’re getting the carnage we got yesterday.

If it doesn't firm up / have winds pik up we might get Reed on the 59 watch

The point I'm trying to make is that if Fleetwood gets in at +1, then realistically, we're already down to just 3 guys with a chance (DJ, Reed, Koepka) because I don't think anyone else is going -3 or better from here, and they are all +4 or worse right now.

If one or two of those three guys falters, we have a one man charge against a guy in the clubhouse for most of the back nine. I hope it doesn't play out that way, and we get all three of them fighting until the end, but I've got some concerns about where this is headed.

If Fleetwood doesn't make birdie on 18, and goes in at +2, it'll alleviate a lot of that concern.

That tee shot but Brooks was ridiculous. He'll be even again and really, really, really hope he doesn't run away with it for the 2nd consecutive year.

Hopefully Fleetwood makes that for Birdie. Tehy deserve the Open Championship record to fall today

Bummer, Fleetwood had a real shot at the major scoring record out there, 3 gettable putts on the final 3 holes, including the misread at 18, but still 63 is good, and who knows if the others fail, it might have a chance to be good enough, maybe for a playoff

Fleetwood sitting there signing, sure does look like a guy who knows he had a real chance and gave away a lot at the end

Obviously I know Fleetwood is English, but the voice doesn't match the look. He really looks like he should sound like someone in the pit at a NASCAR event

I was thinking the same thing. He looks like a guy who runs a ranch in Montana.

They are missing a ton of Reed's shots. All of a sudden, he's on the green, putting for birdie, one shot off the lead.

You would think with only 3 people to cover, with maybe a couple of Berger/Finau shots to throw in as a dead time killer, you think they would be able to show every shot from the 3 people

Reed with just an AWFUL shot on 11, can't blame wind or course on that

Pin saves Reed on 11, as he had another awful strike on the ball

It is really amazing how quickly things can turn around for these guys. Reed was flying, and has now had the wheels fall completely off the bus the last 3 holes or so

Well it is the back 9 and Tony Finau is now relevant. I don't anyone would have thought that after the 4th hole

And Finau celebrates with 2 straight miserable shots after a perfect drive on 10
