I really don't think there's any chance Brady would ever need to settle for less than the 3/85M extension that Miguel outlined above. Yes, his contracts have always been mostly cap friendly, which has helped New England tremendously over the years. But he's not going to play for peanuts either.

He's already 21st in cash earnings this year, behind such notables as Andy Dalton, Eli Manning, Daniel Jones, Jimmy G, Matt Stafford, and Kirk Cousins. I don't think being the most highly paid QB is important to Brady. But if he's going to extend, he's going to want to at least earn what the median is for a starting QB in the NFL, if not more. And don't think for a minute opposing teams would not rush to offer him something substantial if he were to hit free agency.
