Look at all these Caps' fans who have bled red for three years suffering and waiting for this very moment!
They were losing heartbreaking playoff series more than 30 years ago. They have really good fans.

Seriously. I was marginally team Vegas for the finals, but Peter Bondra, Olaf Kolzig, Rod Langway, Adam Oates, and Al Iafrate all died for this day

Congrats to Ovie, Backs, Koozie, Barry, and all the long suffering Caps fans.

All of you deserve it
But especially Ovie
Great post game interview too

1st ballot all the way
No holes in his resume anymore

Congrats to ex Bruin Brett Connolly, Ovi, and the long suffering Caps fans. I think Ovi's exuberance when he first got the cup is why we all love sports.

I'm happy for Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Connolly (I watched him play a couple seasons in Syracuse, and wished he worked out better with us).

Too bad Wilson is happy now.

There was definitely a 2004 vibe to this postseason. Though Caps had a 7-game series between their "exorcise the demons" series and the final, dominant step to seal the deal.

First time since 1991 I believe that a team won the Cup after losing game 1 of every series.

EDIT: first in a long time to win the Cup after trailing in each series.

Huh? The Capitals won Game 1 of their series against the Lightning. That was a nice exorcism series too, they were up 2-0 and needed to show they could finally seal the deal as a dominant team.

I was wrong - first in a long time to win the Cup after trailing in each series.

Watching the Nats/Giants game and most of the Caps are there, along with the Cup. 48 hours later (or whatever) they are still spectacularly hammered, pouring Bud Lights on each other and on the announcer interviewing them while belting out a delightfully off-key version of "We Are The Champions" with a variety of accents.

Yep, seventh inning, still there, standing up to flash the Cup to the adoring crowd then and again.

Who knows, but I feel like every championship celebration and parade in forever has featured a shit load of Bud Light.

Parades start early in the day and are long affairs - one has to hydrate, and Bud Light is a close relative of water....

Was a good turnout from what I saw and a very well organized set up and procession (this city is used to hosting big events/marches/parades), they really did it right - had several buddies down there, so I am sure I will get some first hand reports soon.

I don't know how these guys party like this. My wife graduated from her school yesterday and we split two bottles of wine and a BCBS to celebrate, and I can't fucking function today.

Ovechkin flopping around in the fountain is amazing, though.

A) I first read that as high school, which gave me pause
B) You can still function if you never let the hangover happen
