Up: Halak. Good rebounds. Saw shots well and had good position.

As Expected: Marchand. Looked smooth. Comfortable and confident smooth.

Down: Moore. Had a goal. Was very much BACK in Halak's face while Miller was the more aggressive Dman in the pairing.

Watching the DVR now. Moore is definitely shaky. Feel like a big part of that is his unfamiliarity with the system. It’s 10 minutes in and he’s already given up at lest 3-4 prime chances.

Halak has been everywhere though. He’s solid.

Hard to learn too much since they only had 1 practice and Calgary iced their NHL club, but some observations:

- Studnicka struggled, took 2 penalties and never seemed to get anything going with 63 and 88. But again, they only had 1 practice together. We’ll see if they get another look together on Wednesday, or if Cassidy gives Frederic or JFK some run on that line.

- JFK and Frederic were better than Studnicka if we are handicapping the 3C race. Frederic might have been the best of the 3.

- Cehlarik’s feed on the Moore goal is the kind of play that makes him so intriguing as a prospect. Beauty of a dish, would love to see him stay healthy and put it together.

- Donato picking up where he left off. Nice poke check at the defensive blue line to spring himself on a breakaway, and later on the finish on the 2-on-1.

- Halak was outstanding. First real backup since Rask was behind a Thomas.

- Didn’t notice much from Zboril. Would guess Vaakanainen gets in on Wednesday.

I think Studnicka is getting the long-shot chance with 63 and 88. 37 and 68 were paried together as an "eh, we'll try it" originally and they've been essentially joined at the hip ever since. I think Cassidy rotating the young players through the established guys and seeing where unexpected chemistry shows itself is a good move.

Moore needs to up his chemistry. I could understand the tentativeness being because of unfamiliarity, but it does need to be fixed.

Thanks for all the updates everyone!

FWIW, Moore played in a very different system in New Jersey, they were extremely passive without the puck. So I'm not surprised that he looked a little uncomfortable, but I definitely think he has the athleticism to fit here.

Sounds like Calgary controlled the game pretty well, which shouldn't be surprising/worrisome given that the Bruins were without their top 2 centers and Chara and Krug. But also sounds like the Bruins battled pretty well.

Happy to hear good things about Cehlarik, he's flying under the radar as a prospect who could make the jump this season. He's still fairly young, just turned 23, and has been very good in the AHL when he's been able to stay on the ice.

Woof. I think WSH has TV coverage, so maybe a stream can be found.

The main group finishes up the China trip with a game tomorrow at 7:30am. I’m assuming it will be on NHLN.

3-1, Senyshyn. Got sent in on partial break, first shot was stopped by Holtby but Senyshyn swept in the rebound.

Senyshyn scored again late. 4-2 B’s after 2. Weird goal, Senyshyn was coming down the wing and threw it in front with Hughes crashing and it wound up going in.

Between here and everywhere.
I was at this game till halfway through the second. It was my daughters first game and she was getting tired so we peaced our early.

First things first - all she wanted was a puck. We stood at the glass all warmups and every time she waived at a player who didn’t waive back her heart broke. She’s only 4.5 so it was hard to explain to her that they were getting ready for a game.

At the end of warmups Stempniak must have seen us in our Bruins gear cause he came over, tapped the glass, and flipped one to her. Her smile in that moment will be one of the visions that flash before my eyes when I die.

Ok past the emotional crap.

Senyshyn looks like a big boy on the ice. A lot of the kids looked small (compared to the Caps) out there, but he looked like he belonged.

Lauko has some skills, and clearly had a lot of raw talent. He’ll be a great pick.

No one else really stood out. That was...quite a lineup.

Turns out the game is on NBCSN, or the NBC sports app.

1-0 B’s after 1. DeBrusk goal from Donato. Donato is insta offense.

Sweet give and go between JFK and Marchand, nearly resulted in a tap-in for JFK but he was being tied up in front

Haven't seen Donato much either, could just be resting them? Maybe they got the same thing McAvoy came down with?

Derek Ryan jump-dives into the boards after a Kevan Miller bump, 5-on-3 for 9 seconds

edit: Great kills. Moore gets some revenge on Hathaway in a net-front scrum

How much of a shithead do you have to be to throw a hit to the head in a freaking preseason game?
