Ran into Sweeney outside North Station this morning. He isn't going to China. He seemed to be looking for his Uber, so that's all I got.

Expect more fuego takes soon

Anyone who's ready to contribute in the NHL should be dominating in this tournament. So the Bruins should do really well, they have a lot of seasoned prospects. I'm really excited to see the centers, UV, and if Zboril/Lauzon can make a jump

Interesting captains today:

I'd say it's a good sign Zboril and Senyshyn are 2 of them. Zboril has had a reputation for having maturity issues earlier in his career, and I'd never got the impression that Senyshyn was a super high character guy.

Lineups in warmups the same as cshea posted

4-0, Sherman from JFK and Donato.

Probably the last we see of Donato this weekend.

And video for this one

Now that I'm out of market, is there a way to pay ONE provider ONE amount of money to see every Bruins game streaming?

Frederic got the first goal in a rebound and Kuhlman buried a rebound to retake the lead 2-1.

2nd period just started but Bruins look faster and more talented. Donato is so good in small spaces. Studnicka makes thing happen with his speed. JFK is doing all the little things.

Thought Karsson Kuhlman was their best player last night. Reminds me of Czarnik with his speed and intelligence, but he seems stronger more in a bowling ball mode.

Interesting wrinkle to add. Seems destined for Providence (and Jay Leach seems really excited about that), but interesting guy.

Few other quick hits:

- Senyshyn was a ghost. Had maybe one rush but otherwise wasn’t someone I noticed. Not a good start for him.
- JFK an Frederic might be on equal footing. JFK is a smart player, but Frederic’s size and skill will likely put him ahead. JFK really seems to lack offensive talent both in his approach and skill set.
-Studnicka is going to be a player. He’s probably a year or two away, but his speed is dynamic and he thinks the game well.
- Lauzon and Zboril were relatively solid. Feel more comfortable with lauzon in his own zone than Zboril, but it’s apparent Zboril has a lot of skill.
- Vladar could make the leap this year. He’s added muscle and was in control and on top of Buffalos shooters all game. Impressive.
- Donato seems clearly better than everyone else which I think is a good sign. Him and Dahlin stuck out as Better than everyone else.

Yeah, he had a visa issue. You'd think the team would have straightened that out ahead of time
All kidding aside from my previous post. It can be a pretty big pain in the ass to work a lot of that stuff out ahead of time. I’m sure he could enter the country, he just can’t work for an American company there. He probably thought he got the right paperwork and he didn’t. Remember how long it took Chris Kelly to get his visa to play here?

3-1 B's after 1.
I like JFK's aggression, but he's been dumping around when a good rebound off the wall would be great and avoid the goalie. Halak looks good though.

Moore is a pylon. Miller is compensating and I think last year's step up might not have been an outlier.

Announcers talk about Donato: has been working to transition from LW to RW by practicing drills from both sides, and is also taking faceoffs in practice in case he needs to play C. Offseason focus was on building solid, well-rounded fundamentals that will make him valuable in multiple roles if the team needs him.

Backes has lost almost 20 pounds since the end of last season. Partially because of the results of his colon surgery, but also because he's been trying to lose weight and get faster. Feels the NHL is changing and that he needs to adapt as a player to stay relevant. Wants to use speed and experience to create space that he was better at using his body to earlier in his career.

Halak is doing a fantastic job of redirecting rebounds to his defenders and the C is collapsing very effectively across all of the lines to take away the net-front presence. The flames are rarely getting more than 1 shot opportunity per zone entrance.

The new coach for calgary is aparrantly really shuffling everything (offensive, defensive, pk, and pp lines) to figure out chemistry. May explain why the Bruins look more coordinated.

(I figure no one is watching this, I'll share the intersting tidbits the announcers share).

Gadreau and Lindholm have a 2 on 1 after McAvoy gets caught deep. Moore takes the Gadreau/the shot, the pass to Lindholm is clean, and the shot goes off Halak's glove, the crossbar, and goes out of play. Halak is really seeing things well though. He hasn't seemed out of position at all. I'm already more confident about him than I've been about Khudobin the past 2 years.

Edit: So many catheter commercials.

That was a rough 30 seconds for the ref there. Looked like he tripped over his skates then takes a check right after.

Bad ice-> poor goal support (the rubber pegs are much smaller than the ones I've seen at BU/NHL arenas) -> halak's been kicking the posts -> skate blade issues

... I've heard them play John Fogerty's "Centerfield" on the PA at least twice. I think someone got their sports song packs crossed.

Nordstrom and Wagner are playing effective PK minutes. If they end up being Pevs/Kels 2.0, I would complain for exactly 0 seconds.

Marchand's shootout goal looked effortless. Just put the puck in a shooting position, saw an opening, and smoothly put it there.
