The time to draft is upon us. Here are the rules of the draft. I'll follow this post up with the draft order (randomly selected by Zomp and I and audited by VSF) and then a post that outlines the scoring, league rules, and money payouts. 1st person can pick anytime before Wednesday morning, but we won't start the timer until Wednesday at 9am ET.

1) This, of course, will be serpentine style. If anyone is unfamiliar with that, it means in the even numbered rounds we go reverse order. So in round one we go 1-20, round two we go 20-1, round three is 1-20 and so forth.

2) I will post the draft order in the 3rd post. What I did was have Zomp e-mail me a random order of the participants while I ran 1-20 in a random sequence generator, then assigned the numbers to each name. VSF was copied on both emails.

3) We’ll give each person 24 hours to make their pick. As best I can, I will notify someone when they are on the clock via PM, e-mail or text. I encourage everyone to PM me their preferred method of contact. If after 12 hours nobody has made their pick, I’ll send them another PM/Text. If after 24 hours they miss their pick, we will give them the highest available ranked golfer according to the World Golf Rankings ( http://www.owgr.com/ranking ).

4) Please BOLD AND CAPS your pick. This is going to be fun, and thought process on the pick, people busting balls, etc… is all very encouraged. So there is no confusion, BOLD AND CAPS your pick so we know. I've asked Zomp to help me out with this. If you're mobile and can't BOLD your selection, mention it in the post and we'll fix it.

5) I’ll do my best to update the team lists in the post #3. This is another thing I'll get help from Zomp with. Before you make your pick, please check out who everyone has. Double check by going through the thread. It will start off easy, but get very difficult once we get to round 3 or 4. Sometimes, I won’t be available to update the teams as quick as the picks are coming in. If you pick someone that has already been picked, it is up to you to change your pick . Once you BOLD AND CAPS your pick, that gives the next person permission to pick their player. You will change your pick at any time, but we won’t wait to keep the draft going so you’d be only screwing yourself.

6) We will have 2 Add/Drop periods this year. The first will take place after the WGC Match Play event and go into effect for the Masters, the 2nd will take place after the US Open and go into effect for the Quicken Loans National. Only players not on anyone's roster at the start of the add/drop period are eligible to be picked up. Players dropped in the first Add/Drop period are eligible to be picked up in the 2nd one.

7) The "If you regularly text the Pro you get to have him on your team" rule. @Deathofthebambino automatically gets ROB OPPENHEIM as his last pick if he wants him. DOTB - please confirm in here if you plan to exercise this option.

Please post any questions in here before the draft starts on Wednesday.

How regular is regular? I have Scott Piercy's number in my phone. I can text him more often if I can get him with my last pick.

Haha I don't think that's in the spirit of the rule. It's really the "we love Rob" rule.

Thanks guys. Yes, to be clear, I would like to have Rob on my team. Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. If he somehow ends up being a top 25 player in the world, I promise to share my winnings in some way.

Even though the draft starts Wednesday, if folks are ready, can they start picking, but the 24 hour rule won't go into effect until Wednesday/Thursday?

This is our 6th year, but I do not have the draft order from year 1. Taking only the 15 people who have done this every year and looking at average draft position. You are correct you have the second to worst draft spot average. Your average draft spot is 14.8 over the last 5 years, and only Dan1864 can say he has worst luck - with an average draft spot of 15.6.

On the other end of the spectrum is Lupe who has had an average draft spot of 4.8.

Worlds End
I picked last in year 1 (Furyk). No matter where I end up in the draft order, my ADD kicks in around the middle rounds, and I usually find my way right to the middle of the pack.

I’ve been like 3,6,1,20,2,17 or something like that. Lived a good life. Long time between picks but I rather be 1-5 or 15-20 than in the middle.

The winner has always come from 2-8. But DOTB tried to buck that trend last year coming in I believe second out of the 17th draft spot.

BMHH - You are correct 4 years picking in the top 4 and you are second in average draft position.

Looking at my spreadsheet it kills my OCD with the missing data.

Just saying #1 pick last year didn't lead to a favorable year last year for you...so maybe this is your spot!
Very true. Having a top 5 pick is probably ideal, but it seems much more important not to blow one's first pick.
Rory's injuries doomed me, but my boy Kyle Stanley did all he could to give me a chance.

I knew I'd either be getting Rory or Rickie. To be honest I'm glad JKelley picked Rory...I love him, I think he's the most talented golfer on tour, but last year scared me.

Rory’s schedule is a bit concerning as he is apparently skipping the WGC’s and only playing 5 of our events before the Masters. The last time he had a poor year he came back the next year and won 2 majors. So who knows. He is tough to peg. When he has his A game, he’s the best in the world, in my opinion.

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
Worst part is, he's online and posting in other threads. GJGE.
For starters, I'm now on West coast time and by the time I got up, dealt with my kids and did the hour commute into work, it was already noon on the East coast. Secondly, when I got here I had to go straight to back to back meetings while intermittently getting calls from my wife updating me about her dying grandfather. A man who I love more than my own grandfather. Apologies for fucking up your draft, but life got in the way. GJGE.

Well on the plus side I can't blow the 19th pick this year, as I have 20 instead. Of course 22 from last year is already off the board

Sure, if you're going to rage at me for a joking post, that's fine. But I will submit that the last pick was made at 8:45am west coast time. Yesterday.

I'm sorry your grandfather in law is sick, but apparently that hasn't stopped you from posting in other threads. So life got in the way, unless it didn't.

The draft didn’t start until today. Calm down, we have a month to finish it. There will be a time to hassle people about picking time, this is not it.

Torn between two guys, one of whom is my only successful first round pick, but I’m going with the younger guy who plays a touch more.
