Spencer Ware doubtful. Hill is banged up. Kelce should have 2 guys stapled to him at all times.

I'm looking forward to tonight's game for a whole bunch of reasons. Should be a really good game and obviously has significance for Patriots' fans. I think KC somehow pulls it off but the Chargers give them a hell of a game - enough so that I think they have a legit chance in the divisional round (should the Chargers get past the #4 seed in the WC round).

Pretty impressive analysis from Stephen A. Smith

https://deadspin.com/i-dont-think-stephen-a-smith-watches-much-football-1831073217

Video in the link, but for those don't want to watch:

Stephen A. Smith broke down tonight’s Chargers-Chiefs throwdown by reminding us to keep an eye on Spencer Ware (out with a foot injury), Hunter Henry (out since May with a torn ACL), and Derrick Johnson (no longer in the NFL).
He has since said that he meant Virgil Green, not Hunter Henry. Green has 15 rec. and 189 yards this season, with zero receptions in his last three games.

Justin Jackson has a chance to introduce himself to the NFL world tonight. He's a really, really good back, who hits the hole extremely hard and fast....

Rivers throws it off his back foot, up for grabs on his first pass of the game. Picked off.

Add San Diego to the chorus of teams that throw the ball way more than they should, although without Gordon or Ekeler tonight, it's a little more understandable. Rivers has just not burned them as much this year as he usually does.

And Rivers threw off the back foot on that one. If he got anything on that throw, it was likely a completion.

Derwin James would literally have been the perfect Patriot selection in last year's draft if they could have figured out a way to get him.

That was pretty bad.

Could be in a quick hole before you know it. Definitely don’t want to be playing KC from behind at Arrowhead.

Listening to Derek Rae on the Amazon UK feed, because why the hell not.

Tommy Smyth is as lousy as you might expect though, for those of you familiar with his old ESPN Champions League work.

San Diego knew that play was coming on 1st and goal. Their defender moved to the right side of the field before the motion ever even went that way.

Good grief Mahomes is unreal.
I mean, we are watching a guy do things that seasoned vets with similar skill sets cannot do. That TD was a thing of beauty. He just sat back there and let the play develop. Most QBs would have thrown the ball away at that point.

I almost feel like he deked the entire defense into thinking that he was just gonna throw it away and then...zip....touchdown.

When you see the Mahomes TD throw from behind him you can tell the throw was meant for Hill and his own man intercepted it.

He's really good but he got lucky with that throw.

It feels like the only way this kid is going to be stopped in his career is with a terrible injury, and of course nobody is rooting for that. He can make all the throws. He can run. He has great pocket presence. He is patient. He's a passer first, unlike some of the other guys who just tuck and run. The kid is just phenomenal.

If there is a rematch in KC, with the additional experience, Mahomes is going to destroy the Patriots D.

What I'd probably try to do is do what the Rams did against him - take tons of chances on D, and if they burn you, fine, because playing it safe will just lead to him slicing you apart. So take chances, blitz, try for turnovers, and if you don't stop them, crank up the offense and hope that Brady can shred them. I think playing "bend but don't break" will just get you killed.

As with the Pittsburgh game, there is still shootout potential here. KC D remains beatable.

Yup. And we don’t have the Rams talent on D, so even more so.
