My boy Trae Young with 22 and 14 tonight in Atlanta's win over LA. He's crept up to averaging 17-7 and his shooting stats, while still poor, are getting better. In 2019 he is averaging 19-7.5 43/38/84.

Enes Kanter signs with Portland via Woj.
Portland constantly just has way too many bigs. They now have four centers (Nurkic, Leonard, Collins and Kanter) who will presumably all want minutes, in a league that doesn't really like centers any more. Strange landing spot for Kanter.

They gave him the max offer years ago that OKC eventually matched. I think it's an odd fit, too, but Neil Olshey is pretty notorious for having "his guys" and targeting them in free agency, trades or whatever. Soon as Kanter got bought out I heard about Portland being the potential landing spot.

He probably gets most of Meyers Leonard's minutes. Maybe some of Collins', too, but I suspect they'll try him more at the 4 with Enes functioning as the backup center.

Knox just dug up a body put in the ground by Jayson Tatum and killed it again

This is better because we get DeAndre's priceless reaction...

I know its bad to say the NBA is a great product because Warriors. But I love that there are a ton of great things going on around the Association on a winter Wednesday night and Twitter is there to make sure we don't miss, at least, parts of it:

Nets and Cavs in 3 OTs
Chriss burying Allen
Knox exhuming Simmons corpse, propping it up and then killing it again
IT Zero returning to action
etc etc

IT with 0 points in 7 minutes of action in first half. Kings beating Denver on road.

Pascal Siakam 45/10 on 15-25 shooting. They don't need Kawhi to sign in Toronto for the Raptors to have their go-to All-Star wing.

Mitchell Robinson had abusive 1 on 1 blocks against Embiid on two different possessions down the stretch today, I think he might be the most promising of the young Knicks (ahead of Smith and Knox).

+ Josh Okogie becoming my new favorite player. :)

On Chriss: oh hey, he kinda sorta looks like a basketball player when he's allowed to move around, attack off the bounce, and play something resembling team basketball as opposed to just running a 24-7 screen-and-roll drill for the MVP.

Seems like the Knicks version of Time Lord. Mitchell is getting play though.

I know we are supposed to root against Sacramento, but....
They are my second favorite "team" to follow and Denver is up there too. But the Kings have this figuring-it-out vibe about them that makes them extra fun. Buddy Hield is probably one of the more underrated players (not by NBA nerds but casual fans) in the league right now. He almost won that game on that last shot.

Nikola Jokic, on the Denver side, is a joy to watch. He is like a younger, slightly heavier, Serbian version of Al Horford.

Very hard to root against the Kings. Fox, Bagley, Hield, Bog - really nice young core of players on the rise. BUT glad to see Denver win.

Part of my trouble with rooting against the Kings is that it helps the Lakers and it would be so delicious if they missed the playoffs.

Btw, DeJesus, I know you read World Wide Wob. How funny was that Megan Markle stuff?

OMG I didn't see that until now. Wob is the best in general and that makes it even better:

BTW, I now have a working theory, based on nothing but my eye test, that the Warriors are so, so bored. Like playing a video game where they have mastered the level and then want to see how close to the edge they can skate and still level up. So they let other teams hang around until the last five or six minutes of the fourth and then they go nuclear and blow them off the floor. Lets see how they do tonight in Portlandia...

The best part of the Megan Markle stuff is that he tweeted that story more than a year ago and all of a sudden one of the British tabloids ran with it in the last week or so and it ran in different countries to Rob's good natured consternation. NBA Twitter is the best

Well, as a fan of sports and competition, watching the Warriors has been so, so boring for a few years now, so it makes sense...

Steve Kerr just got ejected during a chippy game in Portland (Zach Collins and Klay Thompson had words) after flagrant foul called on...yeah, Draymond.

The Warriors got several Ts - one for Draymond, one for Kerr and one for someone else. Then Jake Layman hit a three. So it was an eight point possession - I have never seen that before. I have also never seen Kerr lose his shit like that.

Portland sends the Warriors into the break with an L though Golden State is on the second night of a back to back (I know, only the Celtics lose those!)
