Fultz just passed up a corner three with nobody within ten feet of him, while the home crowd egged him on like peak Scal and moaned collectively when he just tried to drive into traffic instead.

I saw a few minutes of the PHI game and towards the end of the 2Q, Fultz started driving. Defenses are giving him the 15 jumper right now so he went inside the right elbow and shot an uncontested pull-up from about 14 feet. Didn't shoot it with confidence and it didn't go in. Kind of sad to see.

Fultz just hit a 3, and the place exploded.

Then he had a wide open shot the next time on offense, and he passed it up.

This will be a confusing ride.

If I could get one young guy from the Lakers for the current Celtics it would easily be Josh Hart.

Portland can put up points, but the Lakers defense is a real problem and the fact that they have very little shooting is going to be a problem in the West.

Didn't realize Lonzo was on a minutes restriction tonight, so maybe I read too much into his PT.
Even in his minutes it didn't look like he was a good fit with a LeBron-style offense. I still say he's traded either by the deadline or over the summer. LeBron historically has put together veteran teammates and his underlying comments on his current teammates youth seemed to me to be calculated.

HRB draft binkie Caris LeVert, finally healthy, putting up a 27.5/5.0/4.5 line in first two games including tonights iso winner over the Knicks. This is quickly becoming his team.

Bill Simmons keeps bringing up a potential trade of Lonzo for Dame Lilliard. Don’t know if that’s based on insider knowledge or just his general love for making up fake trades, but it would fit LeBron’s goal of adding vets (and Portland’s realization that the Lilliard/McCollum duo isn’t getting them anywhere).

Ringer's Kevin O'Connor has been calling for a Lillard/LeBron pairing for awhile now and Zach Lowe's also brought this up. It may be complicated to do in-season with needing to match salaries however the Lakers would be able to simply absorb Lillard's contract over the summer without having to match. Where there's smoke?

POR says no to a Ball for Lillard deal though. Like they don't even consider that, right?

I think there is some giant deal of Ball + Ingram for an all star and role player with LAL signing another all star in the offseason.

It would depend on the Laker sweeteners right? For something to happen in-season the key is Caldwell-Pope who as a one-year bird player must agree to a deal. If he does, that contract makes the numbers simple by also including Stephenson or Beasley along with say Kuzma.

Jaren Jackson Jr with 24/7 tonight with a couple of blocks and 3’s. He’s going to be a good one.

The Boogie injury and the subsequent Mirotic acquisition may turn out to be a huge blessing for he Pelicans. Niklola went 14-21 including 5-9 from deep for a career high 36 points and 9 boards as the Pelicans beat the Sacramento Celtics Picks 149-129 in New Orleans. Danny Ainge's White Whale put up 25 points on 8-12 shooting and 10 boards as well.

In other news, Jonas Jerebko is looking like you might expect with the Warriors. The guy is in the Casspi role and looks right at home on Golden State with 2-2 from deep in the first quarter. He is going to turn out to be a great fit for that team.

Yup Death.

The Jazz have five players in double figure scoring. They may well be the team that gives the Warriors some trouble this season.

Draymond is still a punk. Got hit with a technical after pushing Gobert (after he hard fouled Gobert, who caught his finger in Green's shirt and was trying to get it out, when Green pushed him), and then catches the ball at the 3 point line, Mitchell runs over to defend him, Green responds by lifting his leg trying to knee Mitchell and then swings a wild elbow, which doesn't connect, but Mitchell goes down. Green gets a foul, and Kerr wisely pulls him before he got his second technical.

Draymond deserves all the ire and scrutiny he gets but Mitchell sold that hard there. And Gobert was grabbing him too and then Favors shoved him as well. I expect no tears to be shed for Draymond but the league is wisely taking advantage of his chippiness and reputation.

Gobert wasn't grabbing him. When they showed the angle from the half court side, you could see Gobert had his finger caught in Green's shirt, and was just pulling it out. Of course, the announcers said he was pushing Green, which was wrong. Favors absolutely deserved the technical though, but that was all escalated by Green, starting with the two windmills he threw at Gobert, which led to the original foul.

Mitchell definitely sold it, but just look at what Green was doing. As Mitchell came over to defend him, he lifts his right leg and kind of kicks at Mitchell trying to keep him away, and as Mitchell reaches for the ball, that's when he swings the elbow.

He's just such a dirty player, and I just find it so tiresome.

Wow, how did the refs miss that? Favors just grabbed an offensive rebound, and Durant grabbed his other arm, hooked it, and pulled him and stole the ball from him, right under the hoop.

Jazz really are a team where the whole is better than the sum of it's parts. Mitchell is a superstar, and Gobert is crazy underrated, but these "role" guys like Favors, Ingles, Rubio, Exum, Burks, etc. are all damn good players. Even Crowder has found a role on this team that works (so glad he's gone though).

Golden State is really like one injury away from being just a good team. Cousins is going to make a huge difference if he's healthy, but if he's not, or if they suffer any other injuries, they could have some problems. Damian Jones is in the starting lineup, and right now, the guys who have played off the bench are Jerebko, Livingston, Looney, Cook and some guy named McKinnie. They just don't seem nearly as deep as they have in the past.

Only disagreement I have with this is that Gobert is pretty highly regarded by NBA heads. Guy was DPOY last year.

I do not remember Ricky Rubio being able to shoot like this. His shot is still ugly, but they seem to be going in a lot. And Ingles is an assassin.

Love Ingles even though he drives a minivan. Rubio shot 35.3% from three last year after shooting a Smartian 30% prior to that.

If I saw Ingles get out of a minivan, I don't care how tall he is, the absolute last thing I would think was "hey, there's an NBA player."

Edit: He's basically a good version of Scalabrine.

Uggh....Donovan. Utah with a 1 point lead, and the ball with 28 seconds left. Instead of getting a good shot, Mitchell just pounds the ball into the court for 20 seconds and takes a late jumper while standing on the 3 point line, and a hand in his face. Now, Golden State has a shot with 6 seconds left to get the win.

Are you fucking kidding me? Durant misses the game winner, and Jonas Jerebko with a crazy tip in for the 1 point lead. Might be a half second left on the clock. Gobert gets beat on the boards by Jonas fucking Jerebko. Utah can advance the ball, and try to get a shot. What a brutal loss this will be for them.

Never mind about Golden State being an injury away. I forgot about Iguodala being out....Uggh, so much talent. Gonna be unfair if Boogie is really Boogie again.

Didn't see the game but Bucks pound IND. Of note, apparently Budenholzer is going to force Giannis to learn to shoot 3Ps as Giannis ended up taking 7 of them last night (he missed them all; he's 0-10 for the season). Bucks end up with 47 3P shots.

Utah is so legit. Exum is such a beast defensively and (hopefully for his sake) finally healthy to grow his offensive game. Lots of people mocked his contract but for him it's all about health he has so much overall ability since he already excels on one side of the ball.

I wouldn't take too much out of this game against a really really bad Hawks team. It's really hard to play 28 minutes of a game when your team is up 20-30 for nearly all of it......and finish with a -8. He was on the floor during the Hawks two biggest runs in the late 1st and garbage time 4th.
