I’ve watched the ending of the KZ - Rodriguez fight like 5 times and still can’t tell if that elbow was on purpose or just a fluke result of Yair dodging punches.

Totally on purpose. It was thrown with malice. You don’t KO the Zombie accidentally

Still incredible though

Craziest fucking ending. The Zombie was winning that fight. I tend to think it was intentional, because Rodriguez was peeking up at the impact point right as his head came around, almost like a right handed pitcher holding a runner on first.

The look on Cowboy's face when he went hips into that arm bar is priceless:

After this fight it seems everyone is on the Cerrone train again. I don't know, I just can't like the guy after his Rogan podcast.

He'll face someone in the top 5 and get smoked again.

He's been on more than once. I didn't catch all of the most recent podcast but what is the problem?

So what if he gets smoked again. Sometimes you lose. Part of the game. He gets in there and fights hard every time.

I haven’t met anyone that has supported the Wink side of that little feud, I’m curious to hear the argument, if that is actually what you are referring to with the Rogan’s podcast reference.

I'm not referring to that...I actually have no idea about the Winklejohn fued.

Back a few year's back he said during autograph sessions he would openly flirty with girls whose boyfriends are there...which sounds innocent enough except then he'd detail about how he'd grab their ass or hold them close while their boyfriends look on and he'd give them a nod like "What the fuck are you gonna do about it?"

That, coupled with his use of homophobic slurs, just turns me off of him. He does fight more than anyone and I'll give him a lot of credit for that but in almost every big fight he's ever had, he loses.

100 percent intention. He tried it earlier in the fight.

Met? Like in person? I know of at least two fighters that defended Wink. Sanchez and Holm.

Cowboys seems like a dick, but I don't like making conclusions of something I barely know anything about. I'd like to hear Winks side.

Ha! No, I am referring to the dudes at my gym who, when they are not busy beating the crap out of me, talk nothing but MMA. Cowboy is one of the most beloved figures amongst the serious MMA fans I know and him getting kicked out of his own gym for a younger fighter, who is pretty controversial himself, didnt go over well with the MMA fans I know.

Wink did have a response to Cowboy beating his boy, though El Pantera seems to disprove his entire point about other fighters training with Cowboy and losing:

Watched Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell just now. Not sure why. Bored I guess. It looked like they were both fighting underwater. Tito Ortiz always skips leg day. Liddell can be knocked out by a stiff wind. It's sad.

Santos/Manuwa was a great fight to open the PPV a little Hagler/Hearns. Both guys throwing and connecting BOMBS.

Ortega looked good from midway thru the second and thru the third but Max was relentless in the fourth round.

Masterful performance from Max and Ortega has got heart for days.

Don’t see anyone right now at 145 who can touch Max. He should move up to 155.

I don't watch a lot of MMA. But I have this on, and yeah - Hooker is crazy tough. That was an incredible amount of punishment.

I have a ton of respect for Iaquinta after these last two fights against. Khabib and Kevin Lee. He deserves a win here.

Edit: And the judges agree. Did Al just say Conor McGregor has to go through him? Bold LOL

Right decision in my opinion and very disappointing from Lee. If he really believes he can hang with the top of the division he’ll need to improve his striking.

Lee was super hittable all night and couldn’t adjust. Al looked much much better than he did against Khabib; he looked so slow and u coordinated there. And I realize he took it last minute.

Winning a fight where Kevin Lee took his back twice is incredibly impressive by Raging Al. Al’s effort in the 5th was incredible. I was impressed when Al got in Lee’s face at the end of the fight and Lee was clearly not interested in any more of that action. I’m curious where Al will fight when the 165 division comes around.

Apparently Luke Rockhold is moving up to light heavyweight. I understand the weight cut was bad for him and he'll be able to put on more muscle and be stronger at LHW, but I'm not sure how that will make his chin any better. In addition to not being debilitated from the weight cut so much, will his quickness play up at 205 enough that the additional risk from heavier hitters is mitigated?

What do you guys think?

I like Rockhold. I hope he does well there, but I'm skeptical.

Haven’t seen him fight in awhile, but 205 is still kind of top heavy with Jones and DC potentially there for another year or two, plus Gustafson and Bader. I think he’d have a better shot at a belt or higher ranking at 185, no?

Bader moved to Bellator. Just speculating, since Rockhold and DC both train at AKA, Rockhold making a move to 205 might be an indicator that he thinks Cormier is serious about retiring or staying at HW. Of course Cain trains there too though.

Maybe it is more likely that whatever Cormier does, Rockhold knows it will take time to work his way up and even if DC does stick around, it won't be that long.

Anyway, that is all a long way of saying that LHW may not be so top heavy after all. He may still have a shorter path at 185 though. It is a good question.

Good points. He’s got the size and strength I think. The top guys, absent Bader who you addressed, at 205 aren’t huge strikers, so I don’t know how much his chin will hurt him there. Not to say they can’t hit, but I’m talking Rumble Johnson type power.

Is the number of PPV sales they'll salvage with this move really worth the long term damage of trashing the integrity of the sport?

Oh, and you're pissing off fans who had travel plans to Vegas and fighters who see unequal treatment and are now subject to CA state income taxes on their purses.

Yeah, I think it's like 11 to 13 percent of their purse is now gone due to the income tax. The crazy thing is that they could have just had two shows, the main show in Las Vegas and a show in LA with just Jones and Gustafsson. That way the fans/fighters don't get fucked over and you can still sell the PPV as Jones and Gustaffson in the main event.

I'm not a fan at all of UFC; I appreciate the skill and training that the fighters have and the actual fights can be entertaining, but I can't imagine having a huge passion for UFC and having to deal with so much bullshit.

Yeah, that would’ve worked best I think. Or even throw together a slapdash undercard.

UFC and USADA and the CSAC look so fucking bad here. Just bending over fucking backwards to accommodate one piece of shit man who can not stay off the gas.

Jon Jones is a complete fucking clown but these institutions dont have to placate and cover for him and they fucking do it anyway because he draws money.

If Jones shows up looking like he did for the OSP fight hes gonna fuckin lose

However... I'm gonna assume the OSP fight he was clean and we KNOW he wasnt clean for the DC fight and we KNOW he's not clean for THIS fight so....

You guys might think I’m a sucker here but Jeff Novitsky was on Rogan’s Podcast Thursday, and after listening I’ve turned a 180 on this subject. Like all of you, my immediate reaction was to assume Jones was dirty and the UFC was inventing a technicality to cover for him and ensure the fight would proceed. But listening to Jeff present the evidence, it’s actually quite convincing and it’s diffuclt to see where deception might be creeping in.

I was also under the impression that all of these PED tests has minimum thresholds. For example, if you take a drug test for work, and they find 0.0000001 whatever units of THC in your system, that’s not going to count as a positive. However, apparently for these metabolites, since their discovery is so recent, there are no minimum thresholds yet on the books. So all they can do is report findings of minuscule amounts - like tens of picograms - and then let organizations make their decisions based on that. When we’re talking about amounts that small, we really have to be careful about false positives due to things like environmental contamination and remnants from past intentional/unintentional drug use (which is what they’re postulating in this case).

Jones has most definitely been dirty in the past, but we shouldn’t re-convict people for the same crimes. If he’s served his time, he deserves a chance to fight clean.

Now, that doesn’t mean the UFC still might have found a different way to handle this, as to not screw over fans and fellow fighters. But that’s a separate issue worthy of discussion.

That said, I’m still going to root for Gustafsson.

Some people simply fail with the walk in song choices. Game of Thrones theme song? Whatever that slow country song was? Maybe their strategy is to put their opponent to sleep.

There's a obvious smell test and convicted steroid user on the card, and it isn't Jon Jones

Ryan Hall's heel hook is a sight to behold. It's magic.
That was among the slickest subs I have ever seen. Not even BJs legs stood a chance.
