Kyle Snyder completed a legendary wrestling college career with his 3rd national title yesterday. He’s a heavyweight, but wrestles at 226. He gave up 57 pounds to his opponent in the final.

Last year he stated that he will want to compete in MMA while training for the 2020 Olympics. Hope to see Dana make a strong move on signing this guy ASAP.

He’s awesome. He beat Sadulaev internationally which is even more impressive than beating Coon.

So I just won tickets to 226 at my daughters school fundraiser. What kind of card am I looking at? Are both Cyborg v Nunes and Halloway v Ortega really on the table. Both of those with Cormier v Miocic would be a mega card right?

Rumors that they’re trying to do a big card, but nothing official afaik.

A friend of mine just showed me Notorious. Has this been discussed in here? I can't find a thread but it's also a commonly used set of words I'm looking for, so I figured I'd ask.

Don’t think so. This is generally fight talk when the events are live.

What does 209 mean? Dick?

Would that be a different thread, like in Omar? I thought it was a really interesting... not a documentary, but part of the entrepreneurship of MMA. So it's MMA but also meta MMA...?

Help me out here?

Dick.

It’s comical now. 4th time this fight has been cancelled.

I love Max, and this is definitely a no lose situation for him, but I think he’s in over his head. His striking is much better than Khabibs but I think he’ll be a fish out of water if he gets taken the ground.

What a story if Max wins though. Him and Connor could go at it at both weight classes.

This is crazy. Apparently, Michael Chiesa, one of the fighers scheduled for UFC 223 on Saturday, had his face cut by the broken window. This could get ugly.

What is Conor doing acting like a thug with his entourage? He hit the jackpot with the Mayweather fight. Stay out of trouble, talk some trash, and cash your checks.

Anyone think this might have been planned to hype some future fight (Khabib maybe?).

He’s afraid to fight again. He knows he sucks and can’t beat any of these too guys.

Oh. And cocaine.

That was in the back of my mind too. Dana came out within the last two days and said Conor is definitely fighting this year. So he could be trying to build hype...or destroy his career. But somehow I think the UFC would look past a little legal trouble for a Conor-led PPV.

Conor really knows how to hype a fight
http://www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/23041711/conor-mcgregor-makes-appearance-ufc-223-media-day

"
NEW YORK -- UFC star Conor McGregor stormed a media day ahead of UFC 223 at Barclays Center, damaging a bus and injuring another fighter in the process.

UFC president Dana White said McGregor and a large entourage were let into the building by credentialed journalists from McGregor's website, The Mac Life.

According to multiple witnesses, McGregor, 29, ran into the arena's loading dock and began hurling objects at a bus, which was taking a group of UFC fighters to a nearby hotel.

In a video posted by TMZ, McGregor is shown lifting a dolly and throwing it into one of the bus windows."

Yeah. 1000%. When has he defended his title again? If he fights Khabib and you want to bet on him, hit me up. I’d love that action.
I’m not a baller so the bet talk doesn’t impress me. Just because he hasn’t defended doesn’t mean he “sucks” and can’t beat any of these guys. I actually have him as the underdog vs Khabib but I think he beats Tony and he and Max would be a very close fight because of Max’s motor.

To say that someone who walked through a division to get the title then soundly beat a very good fighter at the next division sucks is a bit over the top.

He tiptoed through those divisions. He handpicks his opponent more than Mayweather, but at least Floyd will be remembered as an all time great.

Yes but they are both very different fighters now. Max takes a few rounds to get started but once he figures you out it’s over. I not sure if he could take punishment from Connor long enough to figure him out, especially at 145, but I’d love to watch.

Chiesa/Pettis and Borg/Moreno fights are now off due to injury because of CM and his entourage. Apparently Chiesa wasn't cleared by the NY commission and Borg's vision is compromised by some glass he got in the eye.

I was looking forward to the Moreno fight. Love that kid.

McGregor is a fucking punk.

Wow, injuring at least two fighters and damaging UFC 223. What a conundrum Dana White is in now. Any respectable organization should take a moral stand here and dump him. However, Conor is a cash cow and will be especially so after this incident. He'll be the Howard Stern of UFC - half love + half hate = huge ratings.

Guessing it was a publicity stunt gone wrong. I imagine He’ll lose a few million in lawsuits and settlements but still be doing just fine and make it all back with his next fight with kabib in Russia.

I keep seeing this and .... maybe? It’s such an odd world that nothing can just happen without being thought possibly faked or staged.

It seems a bit too dangerous for a stunt. Beyond that, this is like the third time this dude has done something insane this year. I think he’s just hopped up on yay and his own self esteem.

I think that's where the "gone wrong" comes into play in that theory. Like it was supposed to just be a "hold me back, bro" type of confrontation, but Conor took it a couple steps too far?

Anyways, I don't buy that theory anymore. There is video of altercations between these camps earlier in the day. I want to know what the fuck happened that caused these grown men to throw caution to the wind and act like gang members in the iPhone era.

Oh, and according to TMZ, one of the several charges against Conor is for punching someone in the fucking face several times.

I thought it was related to Khabib pulling Artem’s card yesterday in the hotel.

What do you mean pulled his card? If you mean Artem being pulled from the card, I thought that decision was made after the Conor incident, which I agree was definitely related to the Artem/Khabib encounter earlier in the day (that's the confrontation I was alluding to in my post). But what I mean is, exactly what happened / was said there that would lead to...this? I mean, Jesus.

Didn’t Artem call Khabib a bitch and Khabib get in his face and slap him a little?

Oh really? I watched most of the video but didn't see the slaps. Still a crazy response.

McGregor / Khabib PPV will be massive. Conor can't stay in MMA and not eventually take that fight now.

Just saw Pettis is out - wanted more money. Paul Felder (who?) is supposedly up.

Ok guys, I’ll fight him but I can probably only cut 15lbs by tomorrow night so he has to go at 175.

Seriously, is Cerrone not available. He’s normally down to fight anyone.

NYSAC nixed putting Felder in the title fight because he's not ranked. Al Iaquinta, who is ranked, weighed in earlier at 155.2(!) for his non-title fight, but .2 over the title-limit so he can't fight for the title either.

edit- UFC got cute trying to put Max in this fight, should have just picked from Pettis or Iaquinta from the get since they knew those two would be ready

Can’t they have it like boxing where the fight goes on but the title isn’t at stake, or are the rules stricter for MMA.

They can and they've done it before. Especially since Khabib doesn't even hold the title currently. For the fighters I think the main issue is a guy training for 3 rounds in a non-main event fighting 5 rounds, but most guys will take the chance since it's more pay. (UFC has this weird rule that the main event is 5 rounds, title match or not; I'm not a fan). For whatever reason though, UFC wants it to be a title fight, which is why they went with name-fighters Holloway and Pettis, guys who have competed for titles. I guess it's because the title-holder hasn't fought in forever and just killed two fights on this card, and the interim titlist blew his LCL, and they can't just hand Khabib the belt.

NYSAC nixing an unranked fighter in a title fight, that I haven't seen that before, but they've only commissioned MMA for a couple of years. Has NYSAC done that in boxing?
