So what's on tap for the offseason? Extend Dak to a big money deal? Same for Cooper? Are there any impending free agents that are likely gone? Is Frederick likely to return or is his future still an unknown?
Last reports I heard on Frederick said that everyone was optimistic about him returning.
Dak is a tough call. He could still improve some...especially since most of his issues tend to be stuff like footwork/accuracy. His decision-making is above average. I've read conflicting reports from a lot of good football writers (who have talked to scouts, etc).
Some think that if he improves some of his accuracy issues via footwork improvement, that would vault him from middle of the pack to a top 10 QB. Others think he won't improve his accuracy. He's 25...could go both ways. He's a bargain on his current deal, but he is not going to be a bargain getting paid top 10-15 money.
Honestly, the Cowboys should probably wait another year and see what happens in 2019. If he takes a leap, then you offer him the long term deal. If not, you find another QB. Their cap situation improves dramatically after next year anyway.
