I can’t see the committee jumping OSU ahead of Oklahoma if they both win next week. OU will have avenged their only loss and OSU has been crazy inconsistent. I guess how they each win would be a factor, but they had OSU behind two 2-loss teams this week. That’s a pretty good indication of what the committee thinks of OSU.

How does this OSU romp impact UCF, especially after the Washington State loss?
I think if Clemson, Bama, and Notre Dame win out and are in, then you’ve got the following fighting for spot #4.

Oklahoma, OSU, and UCF. If they all win out, then I think that is the order of who fills spot #4. I think OSU jumps UCF this week. Georgia would have 2 losses and wouldn’t be a factor IMO, despite the fact that they probably would beat those 3 teams.

If Ohio wins today (and they almost certainly will) and curb stomps Northwestern (which they should) then they definitely deserve a playoff slot. They’ve embarrassed the 2nd best (supposedly) defense in college football.
key word = supposedly

Georgia, LSU, Bama, are all better defensively than Michigan.

No one saw this coming at all with Michigan’s defense. A LOT of hard questions coming for Harbaugh. I am speechless.

Completely out coached. Ohio came to play. Michigan came cocky. Ohio coaches designed offensive and defensive schemes to maximize their own strengths and neutralize Michigan’s strengths. Michigan stuck to its game, which is predictable, but okay if it works, but when it didn’t, Harbaugh didn’t adjust.

OSU as the 4 would probably have the best chance of beating Ala. That’s what I would want — recognizing that they’d also present a pretty high risk of being out of the game in the second quarter.

Every time in college football risks being out of the game in the 2nd quarter versus the juggernaut that is Alabama. I would love to see them fail but they are just so good.

You mean of teams that might be in the 4 slot? Or are you including Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame?

4 slot teams.

The narrative was Michigan would have a decent chance v Ala because of the defense. Putting the defense — and today’s catastrophe aside — it’s clear Michigan would have had no chance, because of its offense.

There are only 3 games. If I’m on the Committee, I want no blowouts. Which means you need a potent offense out of the 4 this year to have anything resembling a non-frivolous chance. Give me the head cases from Columbus.

I agree. I just read that as inclusive of all. This is also my argument against 8, we’ve had years where the semi games weren’t competitive, so taking it to 8 could be two rounds of blowouts and only 1-2 competitive games in the entire playoffs.

I’d love to see Bama v OSU or Bama v OU. Nick does not like teams that go fast.

Wow was I wrong. Harbaugh got schooled again.

Georgia and Oklahoma are happy now. Urban is the biggest Tom Hermanfan on the planet this upcoming week.

OSU likely jumps UCF but if Georgia and OU win out (ou gets beat next week HOOK EM) they’re not sniffing the playoff.

Your basically looking at the New Orleans Saints at this point. Maybe you can steal a possession on defense. Maybe you can score once on defense. But no offense = no shot.
