These Hue Jackson quotes are embarrassing.

You look at our numbers with me calling the offense [in 2016, 2017) with less talent," Jackson said. "Our numbers this year were the same or worse than our numbers last year with better players on offense. So it was already tough for me to give up play-calling when I knew more talent was on the way with [general manager] John Dorsey on board. Of course I wanted to remind everybody what a Hue Jackson-led offense looks like, but I felt they wanted me to focus on coaching the whole team and let someone else call the plays.

I had to read this article like 10 times to make sure I wasn't reading an onion piece

Browns general manager John Dorsey said last week that he was open to hiring a woman as Cleveland's next head coach, and there is one prominent name on the team's wish list to interview.

The Browns would like to interview former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for their head-coaching job, a league source tells ESPN.

If the Browns follow through on it, Rice would become the first woman ever to interview for an NFL head-coaching job.

are the Browns going to bring Donald Rumsfeld or Dick Cheney on as assistant coaches?

I'm all for hiring a female coach for obvious reasons, but why not someone with the most experience in the field? Like, maybe, Katie Sowers? You could also look at Collette Smith (Rooney Rule candidate), Kathryn Smith, or Jen Welter? I like the framework, just not the background.

It's to get her into a consultant type role and sidestep the Rooney rule, they aren't really considering her as the coach

Too bad. You see phrases like "the Brownsiest thing ever," but this would take it to an entirely different level.

Browns still have a path to the playoffs. It's convoluted, but possible.

1. Win their last two (Bengals, Ravens) 8-7-1
2. Miami loses one of the last two weeks (Jags, Bills) 8-8
2. Chargers beat Ravens week 16. 8-8
3. Giants beat Colts week 16.
4. Redskins beat Titans week 16.
5. Titans and Colts tie week 17. both 8-7-1

Colts eliminate Titans on H2H tiebreaker
Browns eliminate Colts on record in common games tiebreaker (3-1 vs. 1-3)

Not likely, but as Jim Carrey said once in a movie "So you're saying there's a chance?"

If the Browns has a real coach the entire season, they could be the 2 seed in the AFC.

Not always a big fan of ESPN's football reporting, but there's an interesting article about the Haslam era in Cleveland http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/25797430/inside-cleveland-browns-front-office-where-hope-history-collide.

It contains perhaps one of the funnies things I have ever read in my life:

Marketing executives wanted employees to see how fans were engaging with the Browns on social media, so they projected the Browns feed onto a giant wall at the facility. It was like broadcasting talk radio over the entire building, and one day in particular, it was worse than that. One of the marketing staffers entered a search for #dp -- for Dawg Pound. The problem was, that hashtag carried a few different meanings, one of which triggered an array of porn to be broadcast onto a wall for the entire office to see for more than 20 minutes, until a tech employee killed the feed..

The above is really good work. Haslam seems like a very complicated guy, with some great strengths and fatal weaknesses. He needs to take a walk. Let Dorsey, Kitchens and Mayfield do what they do.
