This thread could use a picture for reference.

Dear Lord.

Poor Alison Stokke once again someone dehumanizes her by posting a picture of her. Like all professional models she doesn't want to be judged by her looks o_O

Fox skipped the part about the guy who found the land, and had the original idea for building the course is currently serving a 35 year prison sentence.

A prison sentence for murdering his wife who divorced him due to the financial burden the course had on their marriage. The partner having "no regrets" seems an odd choice given that outcome.

Guess the fairways aren't wide enough for McIlroy and he shouldn't be there. Only 5 hit thru 17 haha have a nice weekend off

So I guess Kevin Na won't be on my DK team this week. .
I notice that Rory and Day have both been outspoken in saying they want the course to play tough and saying that players who complain about the conditions can be counted out. Who knows what they actually think about the course, but at least that bit of Nicklaus wisdom has gotten through to them.
Evidently, talk is cheap.

I thought the story about how they barter with the local Amish the bales of cut fescue for hand made woodworking furniture and fixtures was pretty cool.

I like the story of the course, but it is pretty unremarkable for the US Open. I like to see these guys beat up in the US Open, and this thing is just not doing it. Chambers Bay was much more interesting to me.

I think the course is great, but there's still something a little bland about it. Hard to distinguish between holes as seemingly each hole is set up similarly - wide fairway with rough and fescue on each side and then a green guarded by bunkers.

Merion was by far my favorite recent US Open track. It was nice to see a sub-7,000 yard course give everyone fits.

The camera work on the featured group streams online is HORRENDOUS. They can't follow a shot to save their lives, it's terrible.

Also, FoxSports isn't allowing me to stream live broadcast for some reason, even after signing into my cable account. Pretty frustrating.

Steele has played 17 holes today and he's got 5 pars. Bogeys and birdies all over this card. He's -4 overall, -3 today.

The live streaming from the US Open site / www.usopen.com / works perfect with no sign up or log in to cable accounts. The streaming is limited to 'feature groups' but hey, for ease of use and one-click accessibility no complaints from this boring work desk...

I have Rahm and Thomas Pieters on my DraftKings team. They have a total of ONE birdie in 41 holes combined. Ouch.

First 3 drives, 344, 339, 335 right down the middle. Can go into "over power the course" mode here.
It's almost not fair when he's piping the ball off the tee. His swing with a driver is a lot of fun to watch when he's on.

Did Fox bring back the ball tracker this year? I actually liked it off the tee last year.

340 on his drive on 4. Had to play a cut to take some distance off and avoid the bunkers at like 360 lol.

And he misses a 2 footer for birdie

this is a US Open right? not sure FS1 knows, having Shane O'Donoghue and Darren Clarke as commentators....come on

It's very, very tough to have the spotlight shining on you for three full rounds at the US Open. That's what Fowler probably faces if he's to win the tournament, and I'm not sure he's up to that pressure just yet: he might be in better psychological shape if he falls out of the lead today, remains at the front of the peloton after tomorrow, and can attack the golf course again on Sunday. If he stays ahead tonight, I think he's more likely to go backward over the weekend.

As far as the golf course is concerned, I think this must be looking like a disaster from the USGA's perspective. There's no sub-air system under the greens they can use to dry the surfaces out, and it's more likely they'll get wetter and easier to hold over the weekend with rain in the forecast. This is not golf's ultimate test - I wouldn't be at all surprised to see multiple golfers double digits under par by the end of Sunday, and if that happens, I think it's going to be seen in some quarters as a capitulation by the USGA to player power.

DJ's "eh, fuck it" nuked 3-wood there from 299 was pretty awesome. Carried that sucker to the hole. Over the back of a 675 yard par 5 in 2.

I just put the top 18 of the leaderboard in front of a few family members in town. all golfers, mostly casual golf fans. Outside of Fowler and "pornstar" JB Holmes, there were blank faces on the other 16 names.

Fox is shitting themsleves.

That, and Paul Casey being no. 14 makes him worth knowing about. Most of the others in the top 10 at the Open are in the top 50 worldwide.

Koepka is a star too.

Edit: Sneds is in there too. Plenty of names on the leaderboard. Sucks Day, DJ and Rory missed the cut, but that happens.

We can all try to convince ourselves that Keopka, Matsuyama and Casey are household names. The fact remains that Fox Execs are on suicide watch that Rory, Phil, Jason, DJ will not be part of the broadcast this weekend.

Paul Casey: 1-time PGA Tour winner. Sure, he has a bunch of Euro Tour wins but that's sort of AAAA.

Anyway, I think the leaderboard is fine. Casey, Koepka (the announcers might go into homer mode if he's in contention late Sunday), Fowler, Holmes, Matsuyama, Haas, Hoffman, Sergio... all within a few shots. Some other interesting names par and under that could move with a good third round. I'm pumped for the golf today and tomorrow.

I agree completely. Other that Fowler, who is admittedly a huge presence, this leaderboard is made up of golfing nobodies. Yeah, I'm a huge golf fan, so I know Casey and Matsuyama but it's obnoxious to say Sneds and Koepka are big names, relative to the actual big names.

This leaderboard fucking sucks. That's just a fact. And thank god for Fowler! I will still watch almost every shot for the next two days.
