So this blows. I have the ability to move channels around within reason, so I ditch one channel I'll never watch (Golf) for one I may watch occasionally (RDS, the French TSN). Check my streaming app, and it's not there. Check the RDS app, and it doesn't have my provider for a sign-in option. All to listen to people I don't understand get disappointed tonight.

Anyone want to go tonight? PM me and we can make it happen for you a friend. Or just you if don't have any friends. We're not here to judge. I don't like people all that much either.

Lineup:

DeBrusk - Krejci - Pastrnak
Vatrano - JFK - Backes
Heinen - Czarnik - Purcell
Fitzgerald - Kuraly - Szwarz

Zboril - McQuaid
Krug - McAvoy
O'Gara - Carlo

Khudobin
McIntyre

Bergy, Chara, Marchand and Rask get the vet treatment and first 2 games off. I would expect Khudobin to play the whole game since Zane played yesterday.

Still early, but based on practice and the first 2 game lineups, I think their plan for the opening night forward group is:

Marchand - Bergeron - Bjork
DeBrusk - Krejci - Pastrnak
Vatrano - JFK - Backes
Beleskey - Spooner - Nash
Acciari

Tonight's game will be streamed on the Bruins website, with the radio call as the audio. From what I gather, Ryan Johnston is auditioning and will do PbP tonight. Going to be jarring to not hear Goucher. I assume they'll cycle guys in over the course of the preseason. Johnston is underwhelming.

I'm suddenly totally in favor of a McAvoy-Krug pairing, but that means Miller-McQuaid as a bottom pair

Krug-McAvoy would be amazing but I doubt they use them regularly right away. Probably only if they are trailing.

FTFY.

Krug-McAvoy would make for some amazing entertaining hockey, for better and worse. I think at home with last change it could be a viable option.

Ryan Johnston is actually good when he's not allowed to have opinions
Yeah, he was better than I expected. A little right, but that is understandable. I always liked him hosting the hockey show, but Johnston and Flynn is vomit inducing.

Adam Kaufman is auditioning in Thursday's game.

Wings get one late to make it 3-1.

Not much to be upset about other than McQuaid. The kids are performing.

Game is blacked out for me, so I can only follow you guys and BSJ, but Joe McDonald had this to say:

  • One NHL scout in attendance is quite impressed with Boston’s speed.
I'm not even sure how to equate that with a Bruins team. Also, I'd like to echo cshea's thoughts on Miller-Postma as the third D-pair. Anything but McQuaid. I doubt it happens though, McQuaid just seems to be felt to be too valuable by the front office.

Also, I can't wait for this season to start.

Haven't seen JFK in the 3rd. Took a tumble into the boards late in the 2nd, but I thought he came back for a short afterwards.

Purcell from Czarnik. 4-2. Excellent play by Czarnik to chip puck to himself and start the 3-on-1 rush. Czarnik has impressed.

Czarnik has looked good tonight. I wonder what the trade market is for him and Spooner. They seem extremely redundant on the same team

Between here and everywhere.
I really hope there's some trades to free up some space for these kids (Spooner, Krejci, Backes..., see ya!) man are they fun to watch.

The Bruins young talent reminds me a ton of what Tampa has going on right now, just a few years ago. Let's hope they allow the team to mature together and not sell the kids off for whatever.

Czarnik has balls. This is easy. Trade Spooner. Like fucking yesterday.

I agree with Joey Mac's comment about their speed. They look fast. Krejci's line looked really good, and DeBrusk wasn't out of place. Not sure I'm completely buying into DeBrusk like I have in Bjork, but was more impressed with Heinen overall. Don't feel the JFK line stood out much, but Czarnik impressed. I liked Zboril's skill and willingness to push the pace. You can see the talent there, so hopefully the drive catches up. I also liked Fitzgerald, and will be curious to see how he does in Providence this year.

Joey Mac had a chat on BSJ and seems convinced Spooner doesn't last the year and may not even last training camp. JFK got dinged today so that could impact things if he's out for a bit.

Zboril impressed me a lot tonight. Clearly could move and in no way looked uncomfortable out there. He wasn't flashy (outside of his assist) but he was much better than I expected him to be.

And again. It's tough to over emphasize how bad McQuaid looked. He was bar none the Bruins worst player and frankly was hard to watch. I'm not rooting for him to fail because I genuinely just feel bad for him at this point. I don't see any way he's an NHL defenseman this year though.

Bruins' Ticketmaster interface won't let me sell my seats for tomorrow night for less than $54 per ticket. Balcony 328 row 10. Awesome new system they implemented, should really streamline everything.

Anyone want em for free?

How do the B's get rid of McQuaid and/or Spooner. They don't have buyouts left (and can't use them anyways), and stashing them in the AHL still leaves the majority of their cap hit.

I feel bad for McQuaid. His 77 games were his career high last season, and he has multiple seasons in the 60's. He's just gotten injured, and I think the combined weight of the injuries has robbed him of the ability to play at an NHL level.
