This happens every year. They open at 3pm and spend the first 10 minutes recapping what happened prior to going on air before getting to anything live.
The people tuning in at 3pm and very likely people who have been following along all day. It's redundant. But it's CBS, they love the pageantry of the Masters. Of the tee shot. Of the patrons. Of the majesty.
Me? I just want to watch the tournament.
You would have only seen it on the 15 and 16th hole streaming option.
Spieth with a NINE on 15. Awesome.
Really easy to say "hey I can do that" when a guy makes a 9 on a par 5, but then you realize how good these guys are when you see a shot like that on the next hole.
It's brutal everywhere, but by my count only 3 players are under par on the back 9- Fitz, McGirt and Henley who is in the clubhouse.
The Jim Nantz sound-alike on the Amen Corner broadcast has been disorienting me all day. It's like he spent years in a closed room perfecting the imitation.

CBS is terrible. They are covering their first two hours like its the final round --- extended coverage of McGirt and Hoffman, with the occasional random shots from others mixed-in (Woosnam! Weissberger! Bubba!). Meanwhile, Rory, Sergio, Rahm and Patrick Reed are going though Amen Corner. It's the first day - show golf shots and show the course.
Completely agreed. No diversification of players taking shots. Do I care about Charley Hoffman on Thursday? That's a hard NO. Do I care about McGirt on a Saturday, even? Another hard NO.
Let's see some others please.
Lots of shots of players walking. Lots of leaderboards with the lake in the background and music playing (which I love but like twice an hour). Lots of Hoffmann's stupid green jacket colored hat and glasses.

Also after I wrote that and told my buddy he'd come back to the pack like everyone else today on that part of the course he goes and nails a long birdie out and a great tee shot on the par 3.
I don't see it. Thursday leaders have to deal with it for three nights. Only the Tiger's and Spieth's of the world can dominate carrying that around. And even Spieth blew up last year, burdened by the weight of it. Rory did it in 2011. It's really tough to go wire to wire at the Masters. Hoffman won't.
I have had him for two years in fantasy golf. This guy has almost a 100% chance of blowing this.
It doesn't suck. All the snapback Titleist hats are awesome.
Nah you're not the asshole. And it's not the green ones, it's all the ones he wears of every color. Titleist doesn't sell that style anywhere and there's only one way to get them through his charity, which is pretty cool. Since they look awesome I've been fiending for one for a while and will likely cave at some point and donate to get one.
Westwood is great at Augusta. He won't win but he's a great shot for a top 25 and likely a top 10 every year. He has 5 top 10s in 7 Masters this decade. And a T11.
You can always hear the cheers from 16. I wondered if Bubba had made that ridiculous putt when I heard it.
He does play great there. But he's generally is out of serious contention by the final 9.
