Now that Jeremy Lin is out with the Nets being less pesky, and college hoops is underway we can return to our regularly scheduled anticipation of Lottery Night 2017. There are currently 7 teams, including the Nets, with 4 or less wins and our wish must again be a Top-3 pick.

Over the next several months we will see plenty of the top collegiate players as they prepare to hear their name called. I have had my eye on one specific player and after the first two weeks he has not let me down......I frickin LOVE Josh Jackson of Kansas and how his game projects to the NBA. Intense, Competitive, Great Work Ethic, Long, Athletic, Tremendous court instincts (phenomenal passer), Great Size for a 3. The only hole is an inconsistent jumper which is the norm among athletic freaks his age. Once Jackson cleans up his mechanics this is a 10-year NBA All-Star.

There are some other guys who intrigue me such as UK's Malik Monk who also has a high ceiling but right now for me it is Jackson. Can't love this kids game enough. Here is the Draft Express early Mock as a guide to who to watch this winter.

deep inside Guido territory
Markelle Fultz of Washington is a beast too. 6'4" 200 lb guard who can do everything. He went for 30-plus in his first 2 college games. I still am intrigued by Harry Giles but I have to see him healthy first. If they end up with the #1 pick I'm not sure they can take a chance on him being injury prone.

It's a deep draft as far as player potential is concerned.

I'm a fan of Josh Jackson for all the reasons you described. He can attack you in a multiple of ways. His shot has some issues. It has a lot of motion in it. From putting ball a little too far in front to bringing it closer to body then releasing creates to much motion to be consistent. The release out of his had is pretty good so if he can tuck his shot in and get rid of the motion, he can be a good shooter. But he's shooting 48% from the line....ouch. 11-23

I'm looking forward to when Jason Tatum is healthy as they are an easy comparison

It's interesting to follow Lauri Markkanen. Not sure where he'll end up, but his skill set for a 7 footer is legit. He's built pretty well and seems to play hard for a Euro. If Cs lose out on the athletic wings, Nets win some games, he could be intriguing.

I'm too scared to draft Giles with the injuries. Are there any examples of 2 ACL injuries before college and having an All-star type career in NBA?

I wouldn't touch Giles in the high lottery. How many examples are there of 2 ACL guys to even formulate a sample in any sport much less limiting it to basketball. RG3 had two and that jury is certainly still out. Thomas Davis, the LB for the Panthers, tore his 3 times in 3 years when I was living down there. With so many other options out there Giles would be undraftable for me in the high lottery.

Fultz and Jackson look exciting.
The pg group is great but not many have a shot, and Jackson is a shot from being a superstar. He's good without, but you know he's gonna need to develop one for his ceiling.
