I think like FSU, Miami just played flat after being off for like 3 weeks. Each team said it was like playing another season opener, and those are often sloppy. Fortunately for Miami Toledo is worse than NC State.

Duke has looked good though, surprised by their defense, especially in the Baylor game in retrospect of the points Baylor put up against Oklahoma.

Yeah it's not a very inspiring game so far. Even the defense is getting helped out a bit by shitty QB play for Iowa State.

On the bright side Montgomery isn't hurting them. Not sure if he's touched the ball much though so that might also be self inflicted by the Cyclones.

They mentioned that USC plays 12 straight games, then has a bye the last week of the regular season. This is because Notre Dame plays Stanford week. Because ND plays Stanford or USC the last week, this leaves 11 Pac-12 teams, so every season, one Pac-12 team has a bye the last week unless that team can find a team for a rare late-season non-conference game. They have a ready remedy: Utah and BYU used to play the last week when they were in the same conference, but the Pac 12 wants Utah to play Colorado the last week. So Utah and BYU play early in the season instead, leaving one Pac 12 team inconvenienced with an open date the last week. If Utah played BYU and ND played USC/Stanford the last week, the 10 remaining Pac 12 teams could all play in 5 games.

Next season, Utah got an open date the last week, so they just put the BYU game the last week and will have a bye earlier. But every other season through 2022 the game is earlier in the season.

Maybe. I love their running game. Defense looks good. I’m just not going to get all that excited about them beating a Tennessee team that struggled to beat UMass at home one week prior.
