Jim Harbaugh’s been at Michigan long enough, has done his own recruiting enough years now, hasn’t he? I thought he’d have won a title by now. I know it’s not easy.

Actually they don't need that much help
ACC will take care of itself
Just need Bama to win out and they have a decent shot
They get in over Wiscy?

Barring disaster:
Bama
OU
Winner MIA - Clem
Wiscy

There is a chance for 2 SEC teams (UGA or Aub + Bama). But I don't see how 2 B10 teams make it.

If they beat them H2H for conference title yes
Over Wiscy

Much better sos

UCF if undefeated has a better case than one loss Wiscy

But "not needing that much help" is not what "controlling your own 'destiny,'"means. You're supposed to not need ANY help. Otherwise, instead of the stupid cliche, you just, you know, have a decent chance if things break your way.

So a 2 loss OSU needs some help? They don't control their future.

You're probs right where the committee wants a B10 team and will put one in, but we all know a 2 loss OSU should be on the outside looking in. Like where OSU got in over PSU despite the h2h.

In a game that didn't mean much except to the teams playing, if you haven't seen it, go and watch the final play from the SMU/Tulane game. Tulane, down by 3, decides to go for it from the 2 yard line, instead of kicking a game tying field goal and going to overtime. The QB clearly crossed the goal line, but was called down short, and time ran out. The replay official let the call stand. I know it wasn't a perfect angle, but there was absolutely no way in hell that the ball did not get in.

Tulane, finishes 5-7, so it literally cost the team bowl-eligibility and seniors another game. SMU finishes 7-5, so not sure it made a difference for them one way or another, but the game was at SMU, and the fans had already begun storming the field, so I feel like the refs didn't want to have to make the call the other way. Shitty, shitty way to end a game.

I said it yesterday, and I'll say it again. If Auburn beats Alabama, and Wisconsin/Oklahoma/Clemson win out, Alabama is on the outside looking in.

Yikes. Bama losing to a #6 Auburn seems way better than Clem losing to fricking Syracuse.
It's all about timing. An early season loss affects the voters far, far less than a late season loss. Clemson is already ranked higher than Oklahoma and Wisconsin (I disagree with it, but it is what it is), and if Clemson doesn't lose, the voters aren't all of a sudden going to let OK and Wiscy leap frog them. It'll be Clemson, OK and Wiscy if they all win out, and the SEC Champ.

That was a silly play by the Bama D Lineman, Paine. Sheds a double team, and stonewalls a huge running back in the hole and drives him backwards 25 yards. Amazing.

I see Bama - MIa - OU - Clem - Wiscy - Aub as the rankings prior to this weekend?

So OU is ranked higher.
Lets say Aub wins out, Clem wins out, and Wiscy wins out. You get OU, Wiscy, Aub, and either Clem or Bama. No one knows what the committee will do, but excluding Bama, who lost to another playoff team, vs Clem who lost to nobody seems silly.

Lets say Clem loses to MIA. Does MIA get in over Bama in your mind? Both would be 1 loss ACC champs who lost to nobodies.

He is like 1-95 against ranked opponents. Michigan is really an irrelevant program. In the offseason they are relevant because Harbaugh is loved by the media folk and now he'll have the Amazon Prime show but if you watch the football games (which is what I like to do) as opposed to the coverage, you can see that Michigan doesn't belong in the discussion of the top 35 teams, nevermind a freaking title!?!?!

I think your looking at the AP Top 25 Rankings. The Bowl playoff rankings coming into this weekend are:

Alabama, Miami, Clemson, Oklahoma, Wisconsin...If you turn on the Oklahoma game right now, you'll see a #4 next to their name.

And let me be clear, this isn't "in my mind." I don't really have a dog in the fight, because I have literally no rooting interest in college football. I'm just saying what I think the voters will do, based on the way they've been doing it all year, and in past years. Clemson is a darling of the voters. They are the defending national champ, and if the voters can find a way to put them in, they are getting in.

And no, Miami, even with a win over Clemson, doesn't get in. At that point, it'll be either Georgia or Alabama (assuming Auburn wins the SEC Championship, and how the game goes), or Georgia and Auburn.

Nor do I. But you're probably right about the committee loving Clem.

Bama and Clem winning out make it the easiest decision, Bama losing really creates some questions.

First time Alabama has trailed at halftime since early last year against Ole Miss. Only the 6th time in the last 5 years they've trailed at the half.

I think Johnson is a really good back for Auburn, but I think he's the wrong guy against Alabama. He's a big back who makes his living breaking tackles and getting extra yards. Bama is too strong, and too good up the middle for that, and he's not fast enough to the edge to go outside. Would love to see Auburn bring in a change of pace back, who can make some people miss. Don't know if they have one on the roster, but if they just keep plowing Johnson into the LOS, they are going to be facing third and long all day, and I don't know how many more times Alabama is going to bail them out with stupid penalties and stuff.

Welp, might get a chance to see if Auburn has another back. Johnson got popped going around the edge on the Wildcat at the one, scored on the next play, but his shoulder is hurting..He's in the tent.

So there you go.

I think he was hit hard on the play right before when he got the first down. Maybe shouldn’t have been in the game.

Yup. I'm very interested to see if your analysis is spot on. We'll find out.

My personal Heisman favorite, Jonathan Taylor, just busted a 53 yard touchdown. Up to 149 yards on the day, and over 1,800 on the season. Needs about 120 to break the all time freshman record held by Adrian Peterson.

Whereas Auburn basically uses one running back all the time, in Johnson, it seems like Alabama has about a half dozen of them. Jacobs, Scarborough, Williams, etc.
