Good week for Las Cruces, NM. NMSU will be playing in their first bowl game since 1960, and their men's basketball team just knocked off a top 10 opponent (#6 Miami) for the first time since 1990.

Oklahoma vs TCU has been a tremendous watch. Trae Young has the same haircut as my grandmother but plays like Steph.

The Trae Young highlight reel from today is insane. Reminds me of Devin Booker and Steph.

How will he share the ball with Kyrie next year?

I don’t have the exact stats off the top of my head, but Oklahoma blew 5,000 easy finishes from Young in the second half.

Not sure if he can rebound like that in the NBA the way Russ does but all his other skills seem like they would translate. He's basically what we all wanted Fultz to be but even better.

Am I just lacking perspective or is this looking like an all-time great draft class? I mean Doncic, Bagley, Ayton, Porter, Young, Bamba, Jared Jackson for the Top 7? Really? To complete the lottery you have Sexton, Miles and Mikah Bridges, Knox and Carter before you have some debate for 13 & 14 (Robert Williams, Troy Brown and Diallo probably in the running for those last 2 spots)

Most years you'd have maybe 6 or 7 guys with the level of talent of this year's top 12.

If Sportscenter is correct, Trae Young hit six threes from 32 feet or farther tonight. That is absolutely insane.

Harrisburg, Pa.
Shaka Smart has to go. He has no ability to coach offense and Texas hasn’t improved under him. Barnes did more.

Missing the tournament with a top 3 lottery pick is special.

9-22 in Big XII play with two top 5 recruiting classes anchored by 1-and-done NBA centers. Wooooooooo!

Philly
Bucknell with the amazing comeback win!

I expected the Bison to be loaded this year, as in “tourney a given, first round upset in frame, sweet 16 if the stars align” loaded. They had everyone back from a team that pushed WV in the tourney last year. They scheduled tough out of conference and looked to be prepping a resume for a good NCAA seed.

Things didn’t really go to plan. They didn’t set the world in fire OOC and other Patriot League teams have given them fits. They are not a lock to win the conference tourney and an at-large is completely out of the question.

But they will probably win the league and they have a flair for the dramatic. If they end up winning out, a 13-14 seed is likely, which I expect they’d turn into a close and winnable game. And if not, a deep run in the NIT isn’t crazy to think about either.

As much as ESPN wishes Tre Young at OK was the second coming of Steph, he is a good scorer but frequently a dumb player, and OK sucks, but he will still prob win NPOY from the mid season ESPN splooge fest

Oklahoma and Trae Young lose again, now 2-8 in their last 10 and going to Kansas on Monday.

Really bothers me that they're still pretty much a lock when Oklahoma State is also 6-9 in conference, has also beaten Kansas, and is not even really on the bubble. It's all about Trae Young.
It's actually all about the metrics the committee uses to evaluate teams. Oklahoma State is way behind Oklahoma in all of them: https://i.turner.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/images/2017/12/04/team_sheet_guide1.pdf

RPI:
OU - 37
OSU - 95

KPI:
OU - 25
OSU - 59

SOR:
OU -35
OSU - 53

BPI:
OU - 45
OSU - 67

POM :
OU -46
OSU - 62

SAG:
OU -36
OSU - 52

Oklahoma's average of all metrics is 37.3; Oklahoma State's is 64.6. And Oklahoma has six quadrant 1 wins, to OSU's three. That's why one's in and the other's not on the bubble.

That may be true, but Oklahoma's overall resume this year would have gotten it into the tourney every year, regardless of Trae Young, and despite struggling down the stretch. I'm sure you can recall your Cowboys losing 6 of their last 7 entering the tournament a couple of years ago and still getting in as a #9 seed.

Ok why is the B1G playing their conference tournament so early? (yeah MSG is busy next week, why can't they play in Indy/Chicago/Detroit, etc.)

Since Michigan bball didn't get a thread this season, they deserve a mention in this thread for winning back-to-back B1G tourneys. They won 4 games in 4 days, getting vengeance against a Nebraska squad that beat them on short rest earlier this season, finally getting the better of Purdue in a blowout, and absolutely erasing MSU. Again. Going into the BTT, Michigan was looking like a 5 seed, but this tournament win launches them firmly into 4 territory with an outside chance to get on the 3 line. Wolverine fans are focused on getting one of the Detroit slots since that will make the first weekend de facto home games. Kenpom has them at 9 while the AP and Coaches Poll have them at 7. They haven't lost since Feb. 6 and are on a roll once again. I think this team has a glaring FT weakness and lacks a truly elite athlete, which may hold them back from making it to the Final 4, but this team is playing with lots of confidence, has an outstanding defense, and is very well coached. I'd be legitimately surprised if they can't make it to weekend 2.

Rest after a grind of a season that started back in July for a couple days then get back to practice. Intrasquad scrimmages. That sort of thing.
I could see if it ended on Wednesday that it would be good but I think that’s just too long of a break. Then again, I’m not a Leader or Legend so I probably shouldn’t doubt the Big 10.

Because they stand to make more money having the tournament in NYC than not. The tournament at MSG has to be considered a success.
You might want to tell the conference commissioner it was a success. He already stated before the tournament that his idea didn't work and won't be repeated. They need to play a normal season, keep the tournament in Chicago and/or Indianapolis, and just move the championship game earlier on "Selection Sunday", so it matters (the committee has said they ignored it in the past because they couldn't rework things when it was the lead in to their show).
