This has already begun. US beat Canada 4-2 on Saturday, and are currently playing Sweden. Lots of Bruins prospects involved. Pastrnak has already scored for the Czech's, on the PP assisted by Zboril.

USA- Carlo, Donato, Bjork
Sweden- Forsbaka-Karlsson
Czech- Pastrnak, Vladar, Zboril

Power Play Goal scored by number 88 David Pastrnak! Assisted by number 22 Jakub Zboril! Woooooo! ......yeah I could get used to hearing the B's announcer say that regularly for the next 8 years or so.

US loses to Sweden 1-0 in Game 2.
anyone see the game? I thought overall the US played a solid game vs Canada, although there were a few too many individual plays, guys trying to dangle through defensemen. Canada doesn't look like it has any of the exciting players they had last year with McDavid and Domi. I thought Carlo had a good game.

Zboril was ejected from their first game for a boarding call. In the replays I saw the guy turned his back to Zboril, so am glad they didn't see fit to punish him further.

My draft binky for this year is going to be Jesse Puljujarvi. 4 points (and counting) today for Finland, 10 in the 3 games. Come on, Shark Tank!

Canada down to Sweden 2-1 halfway through the second. Not entirely sure but I think the US is gonna be second in the group regardless since Sweden holds the H2H and Canada was 4 points back before the game.

FWIW, as part of my commentary work on the European Champions Hockey League I've watched Puljujärvi play for Kärpät Oulu three times this season, and nothing he's done has particularly stood out - he's only 5-7-12 in 31 league games for Kärpät and has no goals and only one assist in the CHL, which is fair enough for a 17-year-old but not necessarily what you'd want from a top 5 NHL Draft prospect. His U18 and U20 tournament stats over the past two years are off the charts, but compared to someone like Matthews (25 points in 22 games for ZSC Zurich, albeit at the slightly lower level of the Swiss league), I'd like to see Puljujärvi impress more at the senior level.

Denmark leads Russia 3-2 late in the 3rd. Would be a huge upset if they hold on....

USA plays the Czech's later today. Basically a Bruins prospect scrimmage. USA can send Pastrnak back to the Bruins.

And Russia ties it with 40 seconds left. They were all over them it was only a matter of time.

To OT we go.

It was only a matter of time at that point. Good effort from Denmark.

Because the NHL Network has been absolute garbage this whole tournament?

7-0 final. An assist each for Carlo and Donato.
Zboril was player of the game for the ousted Czechs, and Pasta was one of the 3 Czech stars of the tournament.

looks like USA-Russia at 1pm EST Monday? Both these semis should be fun games.

I watched a lot of the Can-Fin replay. The first Finn goals were absolute snipes, but later they scored by going hard to the net. Fun team to watch. Canada had some nice goals highlighted by Marner in the 3rd, but obviously they were very undisciplined. Vertanen had 2 penalties on one play towards the end, to negate a PP.

Also, from the TSN article: "Hartwall Arena itself presented new challenges for Canada, which had played all four of its preliminary round games at Helsinki Ice Hall. The 8,200-seat Ice Hall was dominated by Canadian fans during the round robin, while the sold-out crowd of 13,349 at Hartwall was split about 50-50 with competing "Suomi!" and "Let's Go Canada!" chants throughout the game.

The ice itself was also different. Although the Ice Hall's rink was larger than a typical NHL ice surface, Hartwall's is full Olympic size, four metres wider than the Ice Hall's dimensions. Finland has played all five of its games at Hartwall."

1-0 U.S. after one. Pretty goal by Dvorak on a great rush and feed from Milano (who can fly).

The U.S. goalie Nedeljkovic has been playing outstanding so far (hoping not to jinx him here).

Very nice move by the Russian on the winning goal, but Nedeljkovic has to stop that one. Samsonov was great in the 3rd.

B's prospects score 5 of the 8 goals in an 8-3 romp.
Donato and Bjork with 2 each, and Carlo with a goal and assist.
JFK with an assist for Sweden.

Great for Finland.

Honestly the USA destroying the Swedes in the Bronze medal game is probably the shocker of the tournament for me. The Finland game must have taken a lot out of them.

Same here. I thought Finland and Sweden were the best two teams in the tournament by a fairly wide margin.
