Meh I just see WR as the most overrated position on the field. The big fa contracts arnt worth it. Tom doesn't through a great deep ball unless it's an all world Randy moss going to get them. The shifty slot guys fit what they are trying to do just fine. I mean dez Bryant would certainly be good on the pats but I'm sure he'd still put up better numbers in Dallas with a QB like romo

I'm not looking for Randy Moss. Shit, I'll settle for about 60% of Randy Moss.

And I don't buy this "they have tried" line anymore. It's been a while since they seriously tried, unless you think taking Aaron Dobson three years ago with the 59th pick. Aside from Dobson and Boyce in the 4th round the same year, they took Taylor Price, a slot guy at best, in the 3rd round in 2010, and Brandon Tate in the 3rd in 2009. They also took Ebert in the 7th in 2011 or something and Gallon in the 7th in 2014, and Slater in the 5th in 2008. Oh and that guy Edelman in the 7th in 2009.

That's it. Since 2007, they have taken a total of 8 WR's among their 85 or so picks, and not one of them was earlier than round 3, and 3 were with their last pick. They got gun shy early on with the Bethel Johnson's and Chad Jacksons and haven't really gone back to the WR well since. But, they also haven't gone their in free agency, except to take a shot on guys like Lafell. There are plenty of studs that play WR all over this league, and I'm sure more than a few of them would love to see what they could do with TB throwing them the ball. This is a blindspot for this management, maybe the only one, but it drives me crazy.
They're the only team that hasn't drafted a WR in the first since 2000. At the end of the day, you can't invest everywhere on the roster, and it seems like a reasonable place to go cheap. They know with Brady and their scheme they can get 1000-yard seasons out of slot guys like clockwork, and those guys are undervalued around the league. That lets them spend their picks and money elsewhere ... and you've gotta admit, it's worked pretty well.

They asked him why he struggled in his later years at PSU and he answered "the coaching staff". It might be true but I don't know if you come out and say it that bluntly.
Not pulling your chain, but I've heard this too. Please provide evidence. When he was on with Jon Gruden, he denied ever saying anything of the sort. You got contrary sources other than unnamed?

I have said it's worked pretty well. Except when we run into a defense in the playoffs that can put pressure on Brady, and suffocate our little slot guys, but I digress.

I've got basically no issues with this management team. I just believe when folks look back on Brady's career and they see this outlier of a season where he and the team went through the NFL like a hot knife through butter, why not try the blueprint that worked so well that year at least one more time? It's pretty damn evident to everyone what the difference was that year to every other, and it's the outside weapon.

And let's not forget, there was no Rob Gronkowski in 2007. You put an outside threat on this team, with Gronk and the slot guys, and I don't know how you stop them. I'm willing to absord the cap pain for one season to see what happens with a guy like Dez, or even a Brandon Marshall, or whoever...I'm just fine winning games 55-34.

I'm actually glad Miller got taken. I think someone is going to break him in half in the NFL. Would love to see the Pats take a flier on the hometown kid, Tajae Sharpe from UMASS, personally.
