Finally, starting late on one of those has paid off!Don't look at your 401k tomorrow either. It won't be pretty...
Considering Rashard Lewis made like 140 million... I was a little disappointed to see KG made "only" 327 million$180?
Crap I was way off haha. Oh frig he had like a $125 million deal once. Not sure why I only said $180Considering Rashard Lewis made like 140 million... I was a little disappointed to see KG made "only" 327 million
Unless Brown hits his ceiling.Ainge is going to have to get creative now because otherwise, we're looking at a perennial 48 win team
Ainge will only have the Nets' pick next year so he's not well-positioned to make a big splash in the 2017 draft. Hopefully, they will be bottom 5 again but who knows.Ainge could very well be seeing that this draft sucks and this crop of free agents sucks (doesn't start for a week so obviously could change) and is gearing up for next year when the draft and free agency will be much, much, much better
Or we hit on our top 5 pick in next year's supposedly loaded draft. Or the pick in 2018, or sign a FA.Unless Brown hits his ceiling.
however unlikely that may be. in brad we trust.
That was Papagiorgio, I think.Abdel Nader. Wasn't that the name of one of the terrorists during a season of 24?
This surprised me. I had considered him in my Top-30. Hey, our man Siakam proved the mockidiots wrong!Robert Carter, versatile stretch 4 who can do a big of everything (I've seen a lot of "poor man's Milsap" comps) surprisingly went undrafted, but has been signed by Golden State.
Yeah, you were closer on him than anyone else I saw, and I looked at a foolish amount of draft boards. I realize his upside is as a first big off the bench, but he's still a guy who can rebound, run the floor, protect the rim and guard the PnR. If he develops a jump shot he'll be a useful player. And speaking of bigs who can protect the rim and flash out to the perimeter, there must be some serious concerns about Deyonta Davis's make up for him to slide as much as he did in this class given his physical profile. This surprised me. I was one of the anti-Davis guys and only snuck him into my first round based on his physicals so he "could" develop into a Chris Wilcox-type bench player. I saw enough of his lack of awareness to really question him as a player to the point where Izzo routinely pulled him following missed assignments......it doesn't get easier at this level. The worst part for me is that not only didn't Davis adjust over the course of the season but regressed in that area. His bust potential is very high but his upside is so low that I never understood the hype with him.Yeah, you were closer on him than anyone else I saw, and I looked at a foolish amount of draft boards. Crazy draft, so many internationals. I know we talked about this before, but for as weak as the lottery was, I still think there's a ton of guys (comparatively) drafted 15-45 who can contribute to decent teams as bench players.
There were reports on Twitter that he had refused to be drafted by multiple teams because he didn't want to be stashed for a year. This year more than any I can remember there were a lot of these situations. For example Zubac fell to the 2nd because he also told NBA teams he had no interest in staying overseas. Ton of guys fell/rose due to their willingness to be stashed overseas/in the d-league.Yeah, you were closer on him than anyone else I saw, and I looked at a foolish amount of draft boards. So you can just buy picks? That seems crazy (and I'm a GS fan). Does the money count against the cap or anything? Why doesn't a deep pocketed team employ this strategy exclusively?GS got McCaw for $2.4M cash. So yeah looks like nobody is thrilled to be picking in the second of this draft.
You get 3.4M in or out total for the year in cash considerations for use in all trades. so basically tough to get more than a second out of it.So you can just buy picks? Maybe, the thing is.... everyone has an incentive to lie. The "Ainge wants Okafor, will offer #3" was leaked by Philly to try and keep Okafor's value high, same as the Lakers plus Noel was leaked because it makes them look good for not making a move to their fans and Ainge as unreasonable. Just like Ainge leaked the Jimmy Butler for 3, BKN 17, Smart, Bradley, Crowder nonsense to placate fans as to why he did not get a deal done. Maybe those were early shoot for the moon offers, but thinking that those were take it or leave it offers is silly. Any trade rumor that is on Twitter is leaked for a reason.Rumors around are that Danny wanted Noel and the Lakers pick the sixers own (top three protected next year and unprotected after) for 3.
This is not to get into a value of Noel fight, but in my opinion that is a crazy price for 3 in a bad draft. I think that pick alone is near that value. It's very likely to be a lottery pick next year. With Kobe gone I see them bad not God awful. And it's expected to be a loaded draft.
Tricky one seems clear you guys and ainge don't think Noel was worth 3.given he's nearly a rfa I think that's fair. But both seems a lot.
I'm surprised ainge wasn't interested in Okafor given the rumors.
I think the problem is that Okafor is a bad fit so it has to be Noel and given the contract the teams have very different valuations of him.Very fair.
It does overall seem odd that the sixers couldn't find a deal with the cells though. Seemed a fit both ways. Big man to go on one side for a team needing one and a high pick plus both sides with smaller assets to move. Just seems odd that they were so far apart of so easy a starting point, and that neither side blinked and agreed something a little off to get it done. I'm kind of impressed it's like both sides called the others Bluff.
This is great.NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Celtics will take Jaylen Brown, sources told ESPN.
I was, uh, referring to the Bender pick...If no trade, fucking hate that pick.
Thanks for bumping this thread........I didn't want the last 90 minutes of my life anyway. It was fun reading back through this though and to be fair to Goodman this thread was filled with similar reactions to the Jaylen pick. This is great.
This one might be my favorite.Fuck this shit.
Ainge got roasted when the Sixers and Bulls called his bluff. Should taken the deal for Okafor or Noel.
Have we figured out what he did to "impress?"Abdel Nader. Worked out with/against Bembry/Brogdon/Layman/Prince. Must have impressed. Have to think he's happy to let them stash him somewhere.
He brought Earl Grey tea to Ainge & company when he arrived.Have we figured out what he did to "impress?"
best post of the thread.Ainge has rarely done draft day well, this is nothing new.
I was disappointed that a deal couldn't be worked out at the time ... for Philly's pick last year. I wanted no part of Okafor or Noel. So at least I was right about one thing. This one might be my favorite.
I have no idea how likely such a trade was at the time, but that's a fascinating "what if" - imagine the Celtics without Jaylen but with the #1 and #3 picks last year. Do they take Tatum and Fultz? Do they try to package both picks, the 2018 Brooklyn pick and other pieces for Anthony Davis (thus removing the possibility of acquiring Kyrie later)? My guess is Danny still would have traded the #1 and taken Tatum #3, although what he would have gotten in return for #1 pick in that scenario is impossible to know.I was disappointed that a deal couldn't be worked out at the time ... for Philly's pick last year. Got any stock picks you'd like to share?Maybe they think Brown is a swing for the fences shot and the pick next year is the going to be the golden boy.
Just the offhand risk that they take Fultz is enough for me to be glad that they stuck to their guns and grabbed Brown instead. I recall getting into an argument with Dean Demarkis on another board about the Philly offer as he was high on Noel (in fairness a lot of people were, but I'd heard a lot of bad stories from friends in NH about him, so even beyond the roleplayer factor I wanted nothing to do with him).I have no idea how likely such a trade was at the time, but that's a fascinating "what if" - imagine the Celtics without Jaylen but with the #1 and #3 picks last year. That bet on Celts scouting appears to have paid off. That's why they do what they do for a living and I just write messages on SOSH, I guess...Well.....that's a heck of a bet on Celts scouting. I really hope they got it right, as this does not feel like the right guy to me. Especialy given the reported trade options (obviously, rumors are what they are).
Kind of hope Phoenix trades the pick so we knwo for sure what Dunn was worth in a deal
