La Mancha.
Revis got big pay days all over the place. Sam Bradford is the champ based on production for the dollar. But Revis is the modern day champ of beating 32 gangsters at their own game -- and effing good for him.

We'll always have Hard Knocks -- when he bent 3 New York wise guys -- Woody, Tannenbaum and Rex -- over a table.
I love the sentiment, but in a league with a salary cap he didn't take money out of an owner's pocket, he took it out of those of his teammates.

Yeah. Fucked up how a salary cap works, innit? It's almost like Capital set it up to turn Labor against itself.

I mean, almost.

It's amazing how often commentators overlook this basic fact. How many times have I heard "experts" bemoan the poor sods who complain about high salaries with "why shouldn't they get paid rather than leave it in the pocket of billionaire owners?"? If I've heard it once I've heard it a 100 times. Yes, there is still the occasional resentment of why should players make so much money playing a "game." That's lame. But generally now when fans complain about a players' salary its because it takes up too much cap room and keeps a team from paying other players, not because they resent his richness.

He's a mercenary who was a great player in his prime and has maximized his value in a system that fucks over players. Nothing but respect for him. The fact he played one year in NE and won a ring and now will spend his twilight years wrecking the dumb starfucker Jets salary cap is just the icing on the cake.

Exactly. He's Johnny Damon; our guys bought low, sold high, and got a ring out of the deal. Good for him, good for us.

Kraft should put him in the Patriots Hall of Fame.

8 turnovers, 6 picks, 3 points.
Mmm delicious.

The worst thing for me was Andy Reid (on offense) totally out-scheming the Jets in the first quarter. After that this game became both teams trying to lose.

Apparently Eric Decker has a serious injury. May not be season ending but serious.

This week is huge for them. It's winnable since it is home, Wilson is banged up, and 1pm game for west coast team. Their next 4 are vs. Sea, @ Pitt, @ Az, vs. Bal. If they won't win this week it is hard to see them winning 2 of the next 4. 1-3 would put them at 2-5 and in a pretty big hole. Second half schedule is super favorable but that's a big hole, but the 2nd half includes both Pats games.

Edit: partial tear of rotator cuff

“I am going down in the boat with Ryan Fitzpatrick,” Marshall said, according to NJ.com. “OK? You got it? Can you not ask my any more questions about it? I am going down in the boat with No. 14.”

I freaking love this quote, because he doesn't realize (or maybe he does?) that he is conceding that the boat is, in fact, sinking.

Where is SSF???

I am shocked that paying top dollar in 2015 to recreate the 2010 secondary turned out to be a long-term failure rather than replicating the glory days that were back to back AFCCG losses.

Also surprised that Ryan Fitzpatrick did not, indeed, become a quality NFL starter on his sixth team at age 33.

Just 47 years of bad luck I guess.

The vaunted Jets defense has forced 2 turnovers in 4 games. The offense has given it away 13 times. Not exactly a recipe for success.

Fitz has thrown 25 picks in 20 games for the Jets.

Playoffs included, you have to go back 43 games to get to 25 picks for TB12.

The secondary/coverage in general has big problems. We cant cover the tight end at all. We cant cover the deep ball at all. The QBs we're facing are getting the ball out quickly (to my eye, I havent looked it up). Lombardi was talking to BS about sacks being from coverage and picks being from pressure. We cant cover so the Dline cant get to the QB. We cant cover, so how the hell can we blitz to get pressure to force turnovers (it's a bit of a catch-22).

Jets CB Darrelle Revis has a mild hamstring strain, per Todd Bowles.

Sure. Mild. I think we know where this is headed.

The paper today said the Jets have allowed a hard-to-believe cumulative QB rating of 116.3 so far, and they haven't exactly faced four Hall of Famers (the best of the four, Russell Wilson, could barely move).

It's the Jets, so nothing they do is hard to believe.

Jets fall to Steelers to go 1-4. From TGG charting NY's 2nd half scoring:
  • Week 1 - Jets 6 points (opponent 10)
  • Week 2 - Jets 17 points (opponent 21)
  • Week 3 - Jets 0 points (opponent 7)
  • Week 4 - Jets 7 points (opponent 13)
  • Week 5 - Jets 0 points (opponent 14)
Two things jump out:
  • Jets have scored more than 7 points in the second half once in 5 weeks
  • Jets have failed to outscore their opponents in the second half in every game
Their secondary is now officially a mess with Revis' injury/age and Gilchrist forced to roles he's not great at. Add Decker's injury and the usual ups & downs of Fitzy and they're realistically looking at 1-6:
  • @ Cards
  • vs Ravens
Oh, Bowles also getting skewered over punting the ball on a 4th down before game got away. Mangold also hurt during the game.

1-4 is horrible

The silver lining is the 4 were

Cincy
KC
SEA
PITT

and it gets slightly better from here

Everything Bowles has done has been defensible up until that punt. That was a really bad decision

The 2nd half is much, much easier, but there are the two NE games. NYJ has to get healthier though. Besides Mangold, Harris was also hurt.

Sucks to lose a game when Fitzy threw zero INTs.

The posters at Gang Green sound depressed/suicidal.

"fan since '85 and I can count on one hand the number of enjoyable seasons in that time"

"You know, it's funny. I have been a member here since 06, and when I first came onto the scene, I thought the dark sider stuff was silly. I would mock people who were perpetually negative about the jets. I would call them illogical. I would write that they were paranoid, miserable people. I would question their authenticity....I've aged a lot in the past ten years. I'll always probably be too much of an optimistic fool to ever truly convert to the dark side, but I get it. And . . . I'm sorry."

Future Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson made a one-day visit to the Jets last week as part of his training-camp tour for the NFL Network, and his biggest takeaway was this: The Jets are ripe to overtake theNew England Patriots in the AFC East.

"If there's ever a year to knock off the Patriots, it has to be this year for the Jets or for somebody else to win this division," Tomlinson told me. "It has to be the Jets. When you think about it, they have enough experience on both sides of the ball. If Ryan [Fitzpatrick] can play at the level he played last year -- and maybe just a little bit more -- they should do it. They should do it. He's had his best years under [offensive coordinator] Chan Gailey. That's why I'm so optimistic."

My friend sent me a video of LT and the host on NFLN talking about how the Pats were "lucky" this season and the "football Gods have been on their side."

Willie just sat there mouth agape and was like "bros, they played their first four games with their backup and third string QB." Seventeen years in for Brady and BB and still this nonsense.

What happens when you don't have a QB -- to the point that you have 4 on your roster.

Food for thought for those who griped about the "wasted" JG and JB draft picks.

According to Francesa during a pre-surgical exam it was found that Decker needed hip surgery, which was done today (not shoulder) that will take 8 months to heal, and THEN he will have the shoulder surgery, which will take an additional 6 months of rehabbing.

Why does he need to recover for 8 mos before shoulder surgery?

You would think that would be optimal. But that's the way it was reported and Francesa questioned the long waiting period between surgeries. It may be as simple as its not smart to use crutches (for the hip) while just having shoulder surgery.

I'd just lie in bed. There's got to be a better system. Wheelchair?
