Yeah, that was awesome, as well as clinching the title of this thread as very accurate. First time in 10 years Nadal hasn't won a major.

The match is/was really great (watching the 5th set in replay), but Nadal´s moaning is approaching Sharapova-level and somehow annoying. Yes, heat, humidity and all, but I doubt that it´s much different in other conditions, if he is challenged.

Donald Young comes back from two sets down for the second time this tournament to beat a seed (Simon, Troicki). He gets Wawrinka next, that will obviously be tougher.

Really pulling for Young but his run is over. Stan knows that Young beat him once already.  If The Donald falls behind two sets to Stan this time, he's toast.

Murray down 2 sets to 0 again, this time to Kevin Anderson. 3rd set has been nuts, 4 breaks in the first 5 games.

Goofy stuff: Frank Lampard is in Murray's box, and never gets up when the rest of the box does. And there's a random guy in the 8th row that has bonded with Murray, who points at the guy every time he wins a big point, and Murray gave the guy his racket after he smashed it onto the court.

Murray pulls out the third in a tiebreak, crowd went bonkers. This has been a killer match so far. Murray only has 12 unforced errors through 35 games and is somehow losing, Anderson has 19 aces

Venus wins the second 6-1. It's hard to overstate Venus's shotmaking, only 3 unforced errors that set. Serena had 11. It's weird that Serena is going for winners so often because she's won all three drop shots she's played. She has to keep Venus on the move.

Damn. Hope the 3rd set has more drama but that set was great to see from Venus. She is dropping laser forehands on the sidelines like a wizard. Serena, as she often does, is going to have to find her composure in the last set

Yeah, that's been her strongest shot. Has a couple of aces down the middle too, which makes the wide serve even more effective.

...yet she still has to win 3 straight games to stay in it.

Everyone has maybe stopped watching after that intense women's match and an easy first set for Djokovic, but he is down 4-1 in the second now to Lopez.

Pretty good Djoker meltdown after the second set.  And in the blink of an eye Djoker is up 3-0 in the 3rd

I have a pretty long leash for tennis players exhibiting emotion and personality on the court but Serena is really pushing it after that game. I know it works for her, but Jesus Christ.

She's really been "struggling" all year in majors, I think this is the 11th three setter she's been in in majors this year and that's kind of her mechanism for coming through in the third. But that was the most obnoxious I've ever seen it.

Wow, what a game. I feel dirty but I think I'm rooting for Vinci at this point. Her display after that ridiculous point was completely justified imo.

I'm rooting for Vinci to close it out here, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I wouldn't either but now up to 3 match points. . . .so she might do it.

What a performance.

She's about half of Serena's size

Come on Vinci is only 5 inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter   according to their WTA profiles.

Disagree that Vinci played great, Serena was awful those last two sets. Even easy overheads took 2-3 extra shots to put away, and sitter after sitter she hit wide or into the net. Chris Evert said afterwards that Serena looked frozen, once she started missing attempted winners off Vinci's puffballs, she had no backup plan and Vinci made her generate all of the pace herself. Vinci didn't beat herself (although she tried at times), but just a horrendous collapse by Serena.

Again, I love Serena and have rooted for her in pretty much every match her whole career, but no way Navratilova or Graf blows such a big match so badly.

19 unforced errors for Serena in the third set in 10 games. Vinci only got 11 of 30 first serves in during the third set, but Serena just kept going for her normal winners and missing.
