Harbaugh is resorting to effort stickers above lockers to motivate the team.

"It kind of feels like we’re back in elementary school a little bit,” defensive end Chris Canty said.

"Joe Flacco leads the team with 32." Sounds like they've been using stickers for quite a while, unless Harbaugh somehow caught everybody up for the whole season, so to speak. Which would be really dumb.

He might as well just put little post-it notes above their lockers that say "I have run out of ideas".

Harbaugh earns slightly less than $7 million a year. He is tight with the owner. He has a good relationship with Ozzie. He has not been around the college game for 18 years. People are going back to whisper what they are going to whisper. Harbaugh > Texas is a joke. As for job security, check with Les Miles about what 10 wins a year and a national championship gets you.

Karma is a bitch. Sorry that Flacco has joined Steve Smith Jr as innocent bystanders on the payback tour.

Suggs...he deserves what he gets.

Ravens going for a top 3 pick.

This really screws the Ravens on any contract work and he's due 28.5 next year.

Here
Pretty much no chance Flacco renegotiates now, too. Those 28.5 and 31+ million dollar cap hits are likely here to stay.

And Forsett down with a broken arm. I apologize to any Ravens fans here and honestly not trying to stir the pot, but I am enjoying your season.

No problem. I may be the only one, and my rooting interest is very small compared to my rooting interest in the Pats. Good to see that the venom does not extend to the injured players. And I'd like to think I'm more sophisticated than this, but yeah, karma is a bitch and Harbaugh earned it with the Colts playoff game.

I was at the game. Couple of observations:

1. Jeff Fisher has fully attained Don Shula's favored boy status with the game officials. That's what being on the Competition Committee for eons will do. When you are at the game your perspective is much broader, and it appeared several times that entirely different crews were officiating the game, depending on who had the ball.

2. Yes, the Rams are a dirty team. One would have thought the League was awarding PHDs for spearing and the like. Ravens certainly did not come into this game looking for fights, as they beaten up, and hate them as much as you want, but they usually play hard but clean. But they are not the kind of team to tolerate anyone's bullshit either. So because the Rams played like sons of Fisher, the game teetered on out of control for several stretches.

It sucks to see anyone lose that amount of time to an injury. As far as the organization goes though, it'll be fun to watch how they deal with his money next year.

Saw this on reddit, this is the Ravens' IR:

Flacco (QB1), Forsett (RB1), Taliaferro (RB2), Steve Smith (WR1), Perriman (WR2), Campanaro (WR5), Waller (WR6), Pitta (TE1), Zuttah (C1), Suggs (OLB1), Davis (CB4), Elam (SS2)

And Schaub is now their QB.

That's brutal.

Sure they renegotiate--it's easy enough to turn some of that into a signing bonus.
Mentioned this upthread but am more convinced now that they should just pay Flacco the money he is owed next year and renegotiate the year after that. They aren't going to be good until Flacco gets back and they might as well take the cap hit in a year they aren't contending. Also, if Flacco for some reason doesn't come all the way back, it will make it easier to cut him.

Unless, of course, Flacco is willing to take less money because he's spending a year or so on the IR.

If he's going to miss a meaningful amount of time in 16 then this make sense.

Just saw that 43% of the Ravens salary cap is on the IR and that another 15% is going to players that dont currently play for the team.

Does Harbaugh stay? QB is out, lots of key players injured, and/or possibly retiring (Pitta, Suggs, Smith?) This roster needs an overhaul. Name me a good young player on this team? Mosely, Osemele, the kicker? The Pats have a much better roster going forward and have a lot more good young players, especially on defense.

They are going to lose Osemele but the Ravens' strength in in their lines. Brandon Williams is a stud. Jerrigan could be terrific and Carl Davis is definitely a keeper. As for OL, they have good pieces in Wagner (I think he was top 3 rated last year at RT), a re-signed Yanda, and John Urshel. Their young tight ends (Gilmore, Maxx Williams, and Boyle) are all highly-rated by PFF.

They also have Jimmy Smith locked up, and I suspect he is going to be better next year as he gets over his Lisfranc injury. They also signed Will Hill to an extension, he's played very well at times.

The problem is that they are missing impact guys/playmakers. They need people who can get the QB on defense and people who can take it to the house on Offense. I thought they'd be able to get back fairly quickly with Flacco around, but if Flaco takes a year to get back, it's going to be until 2017 when they get back into contention.

I will try this again. Yes Harbaugh stays because he is paid just shy of $7MM a year, gets along really well with Bisciotti, who does not eff around in football ops, and has a great relationship with Ozzie who will be succeeded by DeCosta (son of Taunton MA), who is 44 and knows what he is doing. This is a stable, professional organization, with an on-the-field focus and a young owner and GM in waiting. That is my best judgment

With a quarterback contract that likely tethers them to mediocrity or worse for the next several years, but yeah, I do think Harbaugh stays for the long haul.

Wow, this season for the Ravens has turned into something like that old SNL OJ-Walter Payton skit:

Assuming Flacco doesn't return until mid season at the earliest......

If I am Kaepernick, I tell my agent that I am only signing for one of two things this spring after the 9ers release him:

A multi year deal with a team where Kaep is the starter
or
A one year deal in Baltimore.

Baltimore is the perfect "prove it" opportunity for Kaepernick with solid coaching and a really good offensive line, even after Osemele signs elsewhere.

They have to really regret not re-signing Tyrod Taylor right now. Shaub is so, so terrible.

Thought this was an interesting nugget - something we talked about a lot after Torrey Smith left.

DPIs / yards the last few years:
2012: 9 / 119
2013: 14 / 295
2014: 14 / 283
2015: 3 / 31

The Torrey Smith effect is real, and it is spectacular.
