Looked yesterday and saw he was right on the cut line when they called it with 2 left. Must have been a hell of a night of sleep. That's pretty impressive to have recovered from the rough like that and then nailing that birdie. Would love to know what his heart rate was doing on that hole.

Are they playing the fourth round today too I would assume?

bogeys on 8 and 9 (his 17 and 18) left Rob at -6 and tied for 54th. Must be nice to have that first check behind him, hopefully he can get into the OHL in Mexico and make some noise there. Purse is 2 million higher than this week...

Ends the day at -5, T10 and 2 back of the 18 hole lead. And he plays the Plantation Course tomorrow which is where the majority of today's low numbers came from (first two rounds at the RSM are split between Seaside and Plantation sister courses).

Very cool to see you guys cheering him on. I'll be with his brother tomorrow night and will pass along the word. Rob went up to play these courses a couple weeks ago to get some practice in before the event, and at least through today, it seems to be helping. Long way to go though.

I might be able to make that happen once he has some real time off. Don't want to ask him now though, when he's just getting into the heat of it.

Birdied 16 and 17 and saved par on 18 to finish the day at -1, -6 for the tournament. Ends the day tied for 13th, 5 shots off the lead. Real nice performance, especially with the first priority list reshuffle coming after this tourney.

Tomorrow will be interesting as the weather's supposed to start to turn as the day progresses and there's going to be a 54-hole cut. Should make for an exciting round.

Was with his family last night, and this point really can't be understated. Because of the re-shuffle after this tournament, it is so important for him to have a good finish and make as much money as he can this week. He's off to another great start today, -3 on the front nine, and he's up to 4th place. If he just gets a top 25 this week, it could get him into just about everything moving forward. I don't even want to try and make myself believe that a top 5 or 10 is a real possibility, but...

His brother just told me that he missed two other birdies inside 7 feet on the front nine too. He's playing really, really well right now. Comes on tv at 1:00

Ended the day at -7 for the tournament, tied for 20th with 13 others. Probably needs to go -1 or -2 tomorrow to stay in the top 25, definitely reasonable.

Tomorrow is so big for him in every respect. Could literally change his life going forward. He's already banked some money in the last tournament towards the reshuffle so he is moving up no matter what, but a good finish tomorrow could get him into a bunch of tournaments going forward, and he can finally plan his schedule, etc. For example, last week, he flew to Mexico as the 2nd alternate, didn't get in and had to turn around and fly home. That shit is so stressful. If he can just get into a place where he knows he's in, he can focus on golf and forget the other shit.

Bogeyed 2 and 3 to start the day, he's got a real uphill climb now.

Edit: Yikes, misses a 9 footer for par on 4, now +3 for the day and +5 in his last 13 holes. Hope he can pull it together.

Recovered to end up +1 for the day, -6 for the tournament. Currently T43, will have to wait to see where things shake out with the reshuffle. Tough day overall, there were two par putts he missed from inside 10 feet (one from 5), if he had buried those he would have been top 25-30.

Yep, tough start today, but he grinded his way to a respectable round. Definitely a missed opportunity, but he's played two tournaments, made both cuts and finished 54th, or probably around 43rd this week, so I think he's gotta be happy with that. I'm guessing he'll make about 15k for the week, but that's just a guess. When he finished 54th a couple weeks ago, he made about $9,300, and that purse was only $4,100,000. This week's purse is $5,700,000. The purse at the Shriner's was $6,400,000, and there was a 5 way tie for 43rd, and each guy made $19,968, so I think a fair guess for this week is around $15,000-$18,000 assuming he finishes right where he is now. A couple shots here or there, and he would have been looking at close to $50,000. It's amazing how much every shot counts.

That said, I think there are a bunch of guys who got into the Tour ahead of him that haven't made a cut yet, and//or have made much less than he has, so I think he's certainly going to improve his priority ranking quite a bit. Whether it's going to be enough to get him into the Hyundai or Sony after the New Year is anyone's guess. Anyway, about 6 weeks off now, which I'm sure is really needed. Hoping to catch up with him over the holidays, and I'll see if I can't get him to come in for a chat.
