Hope he sticks around.
He's also a legacy (son of Brent). Maybe we should call him "Flounder".

The #Pats worked out Cortland Finnegan today, a source said. Despite announcing his retirement in March, he's open to a return to the field.

The #Patriots didn't sign Finnegan today, but given his willingness to consider opportunities, he'll be worth monitoring moving forward.

Most interesting news of the day. Finnegan played with the Phins last year, as we all remember. Tailed off at the end but played in all 16 games. Allowed 10.8 receptions per cover snaps, good for 16th in the league.

I keep hoping for that Twitter Sean Smith trade idea.

I listened to the Curran/Perry/Hart podcast today.  They brought up the idea of going after Jason McCourty or Alterraun Verner.

Isn't Verner more of a cover-2 corner?

Reiss keeps bringing up Marcus Cooper from KC. 3rd year pro, big (6'2 195), Rutgers, has fallen out of favor

Perhaps my least favorite player in recent years. Please sign him for the entertainment value in BBTL alone

They played cover 2 for some if not most of the Indy game.  Remember, they play multiple schemes so having corners who fit all cover schemes is good.

Verner is a Cover 2 corner who is deemed expendable by a Cover 2 team (Lovie Smith's Bucs). He's also looked bad on film for the past year plus and has lost snaps to Tim Jennings, who was cut by Chicago because he was totally cooked last season.

I'd love McCourty but I'm not sure they can fit him into the cap this year.

McCourty has 2 years left at a reasonable salary. Given the promise of Mariotta, I don't see why Tennessee would want to give the guy up for anything less than a premium.

Holy fuck, he's awesome. Wrestling, video games, big swords, and "cut 'em".

Have to love a West Roxy kid, especially being a legacy

I didn't realize Tom Brady's mother was so connected to the rest of the team. Good for her.

I like it. They think he can play and if he can play he's worth the money and the cap space. He's done nothing but earn it this year to my completely unschooled eyes.

We signed two OL, Torrian Wilson and Keavon Milton, to the practice squad.

We had Scar do a private workout with Wilson in the spring and we liked him enough that we tried to sign him as an UDFA but were outbid by the Lions. He's kind of an interesting guy - had a very good but under-the-radar college career playing OT at Central Florida and projects at G in the NFL, but probably could give us some tackle depth because that's what he has played all his life. I don't know anything about Milton other than that he's an OT and has bounced around a bunch of practice squads for a few years.

Really interested to see what Harper can do. He looked a little frisky in the pre-season.

Presumably, Barker will re-sign to the practice squad once he clears waivers. Agree that it's a good sign for at least one tackle.

You know, I was wondering about him just today and whether he could help the offense. Very good, quick feet and elusiveness. He's undersized and doesn't have top end speed, but that's never been a problem in our offense.

In all honesty... I think I would rather play him than Dobson.

Harper returned some kicks and punts in the preseason, too. They might want to reduce Amendola's return duties if he's taking on a bigger role on offense.

Are you saying he needs to be Amendola's Amendola?

.. ahem. Anyway, agreed. Whatever allows us to avoid more Blount kick return experimentation.

Last time out against the Bills we all remember Brady throwing for 466 yards -- Lewis and Edelman combined for about 200 of those and 2 TDs, with Dobson chipping in another 7 catches for 87.

If there's a similar game plan this week, there will be plenty of opportunities out there for the taking.

Does this also mean that Keyshawn Martin is still a ways away from returning? That could be the case because if he was coming back this week, the upgrade from Harper to Martin or Dobson would not seem to be so big so as to warrant this move. After all, Harper has been behind both of them on the depth chart, effectively.

All that said, like Dynomite, I would rather see what Harper can do than have Dobson out there against the Bills and am glad they did this. I just hope Martin comes back soon, as well.

Does La Canfora not realize that the Pats play on Monday?

Having Cannon back would be great but I hope we get word on how Vollmer is progressing. Having both of them back, along with Tre Jackson, will be huge against the Buffalo D.

What becomes of Stork when everyone is healthy? Rotate him in on series to keep everyone fresh? Does Andrews lose his job?

I believe Wednesday practices are usually the big game plan installation days, right ITP guys?

Not sure whether playing on Monday instead of Sunday impacts this, but either way I think it's good that Harper and Fauria are present for practice today and tomorrow.

Also, MMQB shadowed the Cards and Carson Palmer and Arians and posted one of the best breakdowns of a QB and coaching staff going through a game plan prep and practice implementation of it that I have ever read. Here it is: http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2015/11/17/nfl-carson-palmer-arizona-cardinals-inside-game-plan

They had Monday off and today is the first day back so tomorrow will be Wednesday as far as game prep is concerned.

Zolak said last week (in reference to the Collins illness) that if you don't do the "Friday" walkthrough, you most likely don't play. Whether that walkthrough is on Friday for a Monday game is...the kind of detail I have never thought about before today. ;-)

Got it. As others have said, they can use every extra minute to get healthy.

Glad they have an extra day this week, not thrilled that it means they will have both abbreviated preparation and a cross country flight the following week for the Denver game.

I was thinking about the Denver short week/travel game. But in the spirit of "this weeks game is the most important" I think the extra day for injuries and especially to re-jigger the Edelman-less offense is a far bigger plus than the detriment of the short week following. I think everyone from Brady to McD to some players have said that they wont just "plug Amendola into Edelman's spot." So it'll be good to have extra time to deal with the first week of a pretty serious change. Having another OT or 2 would be a huge help in freeing up a TE from pass-blocking blocking more often. (Now if only Chandler would stop the Kyle Brady impersonation......)

Plus if the Pats can win this game, and if Denver loses in Chicago, Pats will have a much bigger cushion heading into the Denver game - they could even afford a loss in terms of the bye
