His brother died. He deserves PI calls.tims4wins said:You joke but Smith is the best WR in the league at drawing PI. Their offense could take a huge step back next year if Forsett leaves.
I should always avoid hyperbole. Gore at those numbers would be okay IF he's able to replicate those numbers. The problem is you're committing a lot of dollars, a roster spot and expecting that player to produce. If Gore hits the wall - and it's a much more feasible proposition than it would be for, say, a 27 year old back with 7000 or so yards - then Philly is potentially screwed with a crippled running game all season. BSF's post highlights the risks of RB's at this age - it's not a great bet.Morgan's Magic Snowplow said:
It could easily be effectively a one year contract with a cap hit around $5M and very little dead money if they cut him in 2016. I wouldn't particularly like that deal for Gore but for a team with $50M in cap space in 2015, its hardly insane.
Without the details, its almost always impossible to know whether any NFL contract is truly awful (Suh contract seems like an exception).

Former Cowboys OT Jermey Parnell to Jax for five years at roughly $6.5 per year, per source. Big man got paid. He is a backup no more.
This is the same League that pissed all over its annual extravaganza over a couple of psi. It's a joke.soxhop411 said:@Rand_Getlin: That same source says the letter indicates the league will conduct an investigation. Will examine if teams did in fact agree to terms early.

Chiefs' deal with Jeremy Maclin will be worth $11 million per season, per source.

I really like Maclin, but this is stupid. Nearly 25% of his targets this past year were 20+ yards. He has decent YAC, but a lot of that comes after he breaks free for a TD (the dude had 6 receptions of 50+ yards this year). They already neutered Dwayne Bowe, and while Maclin is a better receiver, their strengths are similar.
Why have they not learned their lesson?

But I noticed upthread Corsi noted that the Pats are involved in LB Jabaal Sheard. If the price is right, I'd be happy to bring him in. He only had 2 sacks this year, but had 6 last year and 7 the year before. He's only 26 and he's got the size BB typically likes (6'3", 260) and is strong against the run, according to PFF (I know, I know). If they're looking to move on from Mayo to save cap space, Sheard would be a nice way to add back some solid depth.

The journos, of course, don't care because the Patriots were not among the alleged violators. Nobody is getting upset over Miami's rather clear violation of the rules and disregard of the memorandum sent to the teams about the weekend just passed.
