Speaking of, don't they have to spend another 25 million or so to reach the cap floor? How will they do it at this point? Seems like the big money players are gone.

Jones, Hightower, Solder, Gostkowski, & Wright all will be free agents in 2016.  Signing 2-3 of those to extensions should do it.

I understand the "they" pronoun can be vague, but I was referring to the raiders and the 2015 cap

@AdamSchefter: Former Bengals DE Michael Johnson is returning to Cincinnati, having reached agreement with team, per source.

While Bush is more talented he might be a bit of a diva aka Heisman trophy winner and a player who plays in domes and warmer weather cities. I think Pierre Thomas might be more of a Patriot type of player.
Thomas has played his home games in a dome and three road games every year in Atlanta (dome), TB (warm) or Carolina (not exactly cold) his whole career.

He did play in an open-air stadium while at Illinois, FWIW.

It's too bad both of them already have a Super Bowl ring. Can't dangle that carrot so much.

Oh I know. I guess I meant that statement in the past tense with respect to Bush. He was less likely to take less money for the Patriots since he already has a ring. Thomas too, presumably.

FWIW, I've heard from someone close to Belichick that if Pats offer close to what Vince is worth on the market that he'd come back.

Does he have any offers yet? Do we know his market value?

NFL continues to run delay tactics on DE Greg Hardy case. Another review of agreement today. Now looking at possible Wednesday announcement

Can anyone shed light on this? What is this "agreement"? I thought he was cut and free to pursue his options, albeit with the possibility of discipline hanging over him.

WR Stevie Johnson visiting NE today. We've all heard how he holds his own against Revis.
We also remember him for dropping easy TDs (one against Steelers especially). Here are some other stats: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/03/16/bertrand-stevie-johnson-the-perfect-guy-for-patriots/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Johnson, 28, posted three straight seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards from 2010-12 with the Bills. In 2013, his final year in Buffalo, he caught 52 passes for 597 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games.

Last season in San Francisco, Johnson caught 35 passes for 435 yards and three touchdowns.
His single-season career high in touchdowns is 10, which he set in 2010.

He’s played nine games against the Patriots in his career, catching 32 passes for 421 yards and four touchdowns.

"I PRAISE YOU 24/7!!!!!!" the 24-year-old tweeted from his iPad at around 5:15 Sunday after the Steelers' 19-16 overtime victory. "AND THIS HOW YOU DO ME!!!!! YOU EXPECT ME TO LEARN FROM THIS??? HOW???!!! ILL NEVER FORGET THIS!! EVER!!! THX THO..."

If I remember correctly, that's Stevie blaming god for him dropping a would be game winning/clinching catch against the steelers a couple years ago.

I'll always like Stevie Johnson for being the first player to blame Jesus for a dropped pass. Most other players give God credit when they do something good, its about time God took the fall when something goes wrong.

Curious he calls him former Patriots QB when he never saw a regular season game in a Pats uniform.  Former Broncos and Jets QB would be more accurate, right?

DT Tyrunn Walker said he was offered a 3-year deal by the Patriots. Took a one-year deal with the Lions instead.

There is literally no good corners left. Pats prolly will head to the trade market and the draft.

No wonder the Pats stayed away at that money.

They weren't the only ones:

By my count, 20 free-agent CBs have reached agreements and 7 have deals averaging $7M-plus per year. Translation: too expensive for Ravens.

Also you might be able to pick somebody up at the June and training camp cuts.

It's not rocket science but think there's a pretty decent chance they draft a corner fairly high-Dennard/Arrington/Butler/Ryan/Justin Green/Swanson is a group that could certainly use more talent (and in particular some more size).  Alex Carter from Stanford, Eric Rowe from Utah, and Williams from FSU are all 6'0" and taller second or third round prospects and I could see them picking up a guy like that (particularly one who you could use on special teams).

Burned . . . Blacklisted
Is there any feasibility to waiting until closer to the draft to see if someone falling and additional picks could pry away a CB from someone?

It would be fun to have the McCourty bros, but there maybe other above average guys available in trade.

I'd wager starting caliber CBs with reasonable contracts will come at a premium considering the current state of the market at that position. The odds of them adding someone significantly better than who they already have at a moderate price aren't all that good, in my opinion.
