ESPN doing tonight's semis at 8 and Saturday's finals, also at 8. I think SOSH is holding a college wrestling bash at the Cask n Flagon both nights. (Kidding.)

Minnesota and Penn State have five wrestlers alive in the consis this morning to one for Okie State. The Cowboys have four finalists and probably could overtake the other two if they win all four. But one of their finalists has to face David Taylor. Nits will need Ed Ruth to win at 184 to have a chance in the team race.

Minnesota and Penn State both have two finalists.

Like a lot of wrestling team races, what happens this morning in consis will have a huge impact. Nits need to get thirds from Megaludis and Retherford, for sure.

And now back to our regular programming.

Heading into finals tonight, Minnesota has 104 points, Penn State 101.5 and Okie State third with 87. They're done.

Minny and Nits have two finalists apiece. One of the Minny guys is a ninth-seed. If he loses, then Nits can take fourth straight team title with wins from Ruth and Taylor in finals. The finals start at 174 and finish with Taylor's match at 165. 8 p.m. on ESPN.

Not Lynn (or Ocean Side)
Ruth won, as expected, and Nelson lost. This sets up an interesting scenario. I do not care for Minny, but I have a great deal of admiration for how their remaining wrestler, Dylan Ness, goes about it. The looks to pin anything in sight. If he decks Dieringer, which I wouldn't put past him, Taylor will need a major to clinch the team title. If Dieringer wins, Carl gets his fourth straight.

It's on ESPN.soxjox. It's been great: they've televised the whole tournament. Anywho, for anyone who wants to see the best at what they do, tune in around 10:30. Stieber is up next, and he's with the price of admission, too.

Not too many New England TV sets on ESPN tonight, Fred.

Officially, Cael Sanderson was Tim Curley's hire which is ironic because bringing Cael in is the greatest coaching hire for the school since 1966.  Ira Lubert provided the fundraising that lured Cael away from I-State.

Oh, and while the wrestling team was doing its thing, Penn State's fencing team won its 13th national championship, and 3rd in the past 6 years.

1. Penn State: 180 bout victories.
2. Princeton: 159
3. St. Johns: 156

Individual National Champion: Kaito Street in saber.
