Depends on which Serena shows up. If it's the 2014 Wimbledon one then yes if it's the 2013 US Open champion then no.

Radwandska goes out to Peng, very weak women's field.

Great third set in the Venus Williams vs Errani matchup after 2 absolutely miserable sets.   Errani was down 5-3 in the third, before breaking Williams and ultimately forcing a tiebreaker which Errani was able to win with a mini-break on the last point 7-5.

Williams just flat didn't show up for the first set, lots of complaints on ESPN that she has had a tough schedule with singles and doubles. Lots of debate on whether she should play doubles,

Now Errani gets Lucic who beat Simona Halep today

Sharapova vs Lisicki tonight.  Should be great to watch.

Very tough for a 3rd round matchup.  Honestly you wouldn't feel cheated if this were a semifinal match

Kvitova goes out early today, only 3 of the top 8 women left (Serena-1, Sharapova-5, Bouchard-7).

Basically no upsets on the men's side, though, leading to exciting matches like Tsonga/Murray in the round of 16 on Monday (winner gets Djokovic in the quarters).

Nice to see Sunshine moving forward,  she is just so fun to watch.  Shame it means Sharapova is out

In the shocker of all shockers Roger comes out flatter than a pancacke, and loses 12 of the first 13 points against Granolliers

It still makes me laugh when the Williams sisters are unseeded in doubles. Today they squeaked past the #12 seeds 6-1, 6-0 to get into the quarters (#1 seeds Errani/Vinci are already out), and next they get the #4 seeds, Makarova/Vesnina.

Fed still struggling after the long rain delay, he broke back to cut the first set lead to 4-5, but then was broken right back and is down a set (it's on Tennis Channel now).

Yeah I remember it is always so much better when people ignore all the relevant stats, and simply let personal opinions drive rankings.

they are 1-2 on the season.   Their record in the last 2 years as a team is 10-6. The 2 Wimbledon events in 2012 are the only events they have won as a team since Paris in 2010.

Where do you suggest they should be ranked?

Errani's team is out now (probably because she has focused on her singles),  but they have 2 Grand slam Championships, plus a final in the 3rd entering this?
#2 seeds have 8 championships and 2 majors won since the last time the williams sisters won

Even the #15 seeds (the lowest seed), have won 3 titles since the last Williams sister win

Should you piss off every other competitor to rank them?

Federer bounces back in 4 sets. Got into Ashe with 3 games left. Really glad to see Federer play live in person before he retires.

Genie Bouchard with a very rough day in the heat,  she had to be treated for heat symptoms at one point and clearly struggled througout.  Ekaterina Makerova knocked her out.

Andy Murray is playing his best tennis an over a year, with a huge straight set win of Tsonga today

All I said was that it makes me laugh, as they have 13 Grand Slam titles together (admittedly only one in the last four years) and are the greatest women's doubles team of the past two decades. They shouldn't be top seeded, but they should never be unseeded. It's not even for them, it's not fair to whichever seed they draw. You and I have had this same argument before, to me it's just common sense.

Speaking of great double players.   The great Martina Hingis is actually playing in Womens doubles with Flavia Panetta.    And based on the brief shot they showed of her, she is still gorgeous.

Hard to believe that it is over 12 years since she basically retired

Nishikori closes it out 6-4 at a little before 2:30, latest finish ever here. The top half of the draw is loaded, very lopsided with Djokovic/Murray and Wawrinka/Nishikori quarters.

And the Williams sisters are out in the quarters.  Probably the best thing for Serena at this point.

Gael Monfils into the Quarters ripping through rising player Grigor Dimitrov in 3 sets. Saw Monfils on Sunday night and he dominated Gasquet. He should have a tough match with Federer in the QF but he is playing real well right now and has not dropped a set in Flushing.

Wozniacki is obliterating Errani. Currently leading 6-0, 5-1 and serving for the match.

Edit: Done, Wozniacki wins love, one. Her semifinal opponent is unseeded Peng Shuai.

This Nishikori Wawrinka match is pretty exciting. Nichikori up two sets to one. They just had a back and forth tiebreaker in the third with each guy having set point on serve but Nishikori won it

Yeah, it's been a good one. Fourth set tiebreak, Wawrinka won the first four points, then Nishikori won the next 4. 5-5 now.

Djokovic and Murray have split two tiebreaks with lots of breaks of serves along the way, best of three match now.

Murray didn't have enough to keep up that level of play, Novak rolls on in 4.

Bryan bros are in a battle with unseeded american duo Lipsky/Ram...not sure if its on TV but streaming on usopen.org and some pretty outstanding doubles right now. One of the twins serving at 2-2 in the 3rd...

wtf Roger
Monfils has been playing really well at the open this year. After watching him on Sunday when I was at the open I cannot say I am surprised he is leading this match.

But do you really mean this? It's not like Federer has been playing poorly, and the gap between the top 3/4 and everyone else is large.

I do mean it. He destroyed Gasquet in the match I saw and before the match got going I thought that match had a chance to go 4 or 5 sets and then he comes back and beats Dimitrov in straight sets. He's playing at a pretty high level right now. The top 3/4 is down to Novak and possibly Federer if he rebounds. Murray is gone and Nadal was injured. If Monfils wins tonight I can see him reaching the final and maybe giving him a punchers chance to win it. Its all dependent on his serve though.

This is an amazing comeback/meltdown going on.

Mental side of the game is immense. May be what truly separates top 3-4 from everyone else.

Awesome comeback for Feds, and really Monfils played the match of his life up until about Duece at 5-5 in the 4th set.

Unfortunately for Monfils the 5th set is basically what has defined his entire career.  Anytime the going gets tough Gael goes soft

pretty weird. 4-3 in the second set, Woz serving 30-40, and Peng has been cramping for about a game. Meanwhile Woz double faulted three times to give her a break chance.

It eventually got really bad Peng. Apparently they are only supposed to receive treatment during changeovers. The trainer went over to talk to her, but they took Peng off the court for a 3 minute medical assessment and treatment mid-game. She can forfeit points until the changeover, but she'd lose the match.

Peng came back on about 10 minutes after all this. McEnroe and Carillo are basically apoplectic.

edit- Peng retired. sucks because this was a good match until then, but don't want a worse injury
