Lindheim is -1 through 13. Only player under par on the golf course.

Edit: Also- In his last 3 events, Kaymer has posted scores in the 60's on Thursday and Friday then followed it up with scores in the 70's on Saturday in Sunday. No huge numbers, but he has "struggled" so to speak on weekends.

Last 3 U.S. events. He went 69-69 on the weekend at Wentworth

Just turned it on about a half hour ago...this course is unfair today.

Someone's Molars
Kaymer is screwed on 4. In a washout area and can't get relief. Taking an unplayable lie. This could bring some people back in.

Surprised Kaymer is taking an unplayable.
I don't see any way he could have gotten his club face to the ball there. Not sure what other option he had.

How though? The fairway was to the right so he would have had to blast it through that clay? He was also 300+ yards from the hole so advancing it 30 yards doesn't help a ton.

I thought taking the drop was the right call.

Huge eagle for Kaymer. Great bounce back hole.

Guess the meltdown will have to wait a few more holes.

Mentally weakest golfer since Duval 2.0.
Being +1 on a day when 55 of the 67 players are +1 or worse and nobody's gotten into the clubhouse better than even hardly seems like a mental collapse.

Seriously. This isn't a collapse. Not yet, at least. His eagle was insane. And he's draining some tough putts, too, which isn't usually something that happens when I guy is crumbling like a ritz.

He just has to be steady. Only way Kaymer loses then is if someone goes Miller level low. Given the way the USGA wants par to be the score, tomorrow's placements could be insane.

Because I said he's mentally weak? He hasn't collapsed yet in this tournament, but I believe he will. Why do I have to wait until after he does it to say so?

He rose to #1 in the world. He did so on a day where he folded like a cheap suit in the finals in the match play. Since then, he's done almost nothing but suck, and he did almost everything he could to blow the Players this year.

If you want to say he will blow it, knock yourself out. He very well might, but that doesn't mean it will happen because of his head. I just think it's a little harsh to start calling him the "mentally weakest golfer since Duval 2.0" the moment he's not extending his lead. He's still putting up a historic round.
A historic round? What are you talking about? Honestly, I don't give a shit that you think it's harsh. I'm not saying it the moment he's not extending his lead; I've been saying this about him for three years in this forum, and now I've you got you as the Kaymer feelings police? It's a fucking message board. Some people like certain teams, and certain players and dislike others. If you <3 Martin Kaymer, you're welcome to say so, just as I can say I think he lacks intestinal fortitude.

I like Rickie a lot and will be rooting for him.  But I don't trust the new swing in the final group of the U.S. Open on Sunday.

I DO. I trust it. He is the mentally strongest player on tour. :)

My apologies for misspeaking. I meant to say historic tournament.

Yeah, he wasn't "still having a historic tournament," either.

Really clever post, though.

Oh, so when you said "still having a historic round," when he was at -9, you didn't actually mean "still" or "round."

I'm sorry my notes about your inability to effectively communicate in the English language were incomplete. Deeply, deeply sorry.

Yeah, he really lost his composure there.  I mean, I get it and know the feeling completely but it isn't often the pros lose their concentration like that.  Honestly, it's the US Open, those results are supposed to happen.

So anyway, that one shot into the green on 14 for Na totally derailed his tournament.
Can we say goodbye to Na? Hey, hey, na, na, na, na, goodbye.

Yeah, course seems getable today.

I'd love to see Stenson or DJ shoot a 67 and put some heat on Kaymer.

Pretty crazy that Kenny Perry was the playing partner for both Zach today and Peter Jacobson when he aced the same hole back in 99.
