With regards to season tickets, my view on it is, as long as there's a waiting list of people wanting to get them, they're kind of justified in whatever price they decide on for them. If people feel it's too high, they can give them up, and the Red Sox will just give them to the next person on the list.
Whenever it gets to the point where they have more of them than people who want them, then they would need to make decisions to encourage more people to buy them. But, until that point, it doesn't seem there's much reason for the Red Sox to give up extra money.

I think the discussion was more around certain packs taking on more of a % increase based on what was in the pack. Which again, I'm perfectly willing to pay. I don't have to be happy about it.

Right.  It's one thing to understand and accept the economics and another to be happy to suffer from them!  In the end, it's easy to see why summer weekend games are much more desirable and should cost a LOT more than April mid-week games.  What's surprising is that it has taken until this decade for most professional sports teams to recognize and do something about this.  Orchestras have been charging more for Saturday and Sunday performances for many years now.

Is there really still a waiting list? I got an email from the Red Sox ticket office a few months ago stating that they had available season tickets in Pavilion Club and wanted to see if I was interested.

I had bought tickets for 1 game in that section in April and was not on the waiting list. Based on this I just assumed there wasn't a waiting list any more. It's not even like I'm a frequent buyer of tickets.

I believe they have some openings for the pricier club/emc packages ( I got the same email) .  The list is likely for the general seating.

Even if they choose a different packaging of them, until the list is gone, they're going to have no problem at all moving those tickets again. So, again don't really see why they would be too concerned until the list is gone.
 
I mean, I completely understand people here who have them being upset. Who would want to pay more money after all? 
But, from the Red Sox side, it makes perfect sense to charge more.

Yeah, as said by Tonyandpals, there may be openings for some seats (in which case they would need to consider whether it's worthwhile making changes to those pricings/packagings, or just waiting it out), but, there's definitely still waiting lists for plenty of the season tickets.
At least there are for the 10-game pack that I'm on an estimated 2-year wait for (10 games isn't much, I know, but it's a start)

Word from the ticket office is that invoices are going out this week. At least that is the word for the full season ticket package. Anyone know when the 10 game and 20 game invoices are going out, and more specifically when they are going to inform STH of which games are in their packets for the upcoming season?
 
The tickets assigned to the 20 game plan get more unpredictable each season. It is no longer, skip Opening Day, and then count every third game, or whatever sequence you are. Last season had some very strange game assignments, which made distributing tickets tricky. Many of the folks that I distribute games to, use the tickets for holiday gifts. It would be nice to know which games are allocated within the 20 game plans.
 
Dealing with the tier system is one additional pain in the neck.

Sox Pax range in price from $60 to $100 (for SRO), up to $340 to $380 for Pavilion Box.
 
Probably your best shot at getting Opening Day is in a Sox Pax, I doubt too many will reach single game ticket buyers.
