the debate we were having today was whether NBC and the TV rights would force the last 7 or 8 singles matches on sunday to continue even though the EU team will have already clinched. the EU team can simply offer a draw so they can start partying early. I voted no simply because I wanted the EU players to start drinking while still playing just to see the reactions from Jonny Miller

I can't imagine they would do that,   that might kill the event.   I would also think if they have a chance to put up 17-18 points they will do it.

My money is on a 21/2-11/2 US lead after the morning, with Bubba/Webb losing, Fowler/Walker and Reed/Speith taking full points each, and the final match halved between the big guns.

But honestly, it feels like anything could happen.

Webb just popped it up and barely made the fairway! And Bubba shot it left. Rose cranked it down the middle and Stenson hit a 3 wood to the left side of the fairway. Advantage Euros. Breathe, fellas.

Jimmy walker is nails on his drive and stripes it dead center. Rose miss a birdie putt at 1 green and match one is all square after Euros had a decided advantage. Nice dodge, Bubweb.

Because I have nothing else to do, I'll write this: I think the crowd is as subdued as I have heard a Ryder Cup crowd at the first tee. Not even close to the crazy that went on at Medinah. And Rose leaving short a very, very makable 12 footer to go one up made them silent at the green, too. If the US can seize the early momentum, it might keep it rather silent for awhile. And silence is good when you're on foreign soil.

Kaymer almost holes out from 155 and has a 5 footer for birdie. Fowler in front bunker, and Walker with a makable 12 footer. Let's hope he's as steady with the putter as he has been on the rest of hole 1. The guy looks cool as a cucumber.

I saw nothing of Bjorn on this hole.

Oh ye of little faith and much hatred in Patrick Reed. I find him less annoying after hearing him a bit this week than I did earlier in the season. Rooting for him to be our Poulter.

Reed hits 3 wood in the fairway - long 2nd, though. Speith hits his 3 wood past Reed, also in fairway. Best start you could ask for for these two.

Gallacher with driver, hits it right and is in the ugly bunker. Poulter with driver, too, 1st cut of left rough. Not sure why he didn't hit a 3 wood into the fairway.

Stenson drains a birdie putt. bubba needs to match or match 1 will be US one down.

edit- Bubba or Webb have or have one of those putts there. That's a crap attempt to keep it even. Two blue flags on the board early. But Speith is the only on on the green at 1 for the 3rd match, so a chance there for US.

Let's hope Phil can make his 5 footers today. Nice 2nd from him. Rory misses a bit on a wedge from 117 and has a much longer putt for birdie than Phil. Sergio has a long birdie putt and Keegan is in the front bunker, which is a very popular place.

This coverage is almost unwatchable. More commercials than an nfl game.
And bullshit non-golf crap, too. Uncles and nephews? Seriously, there are matches happening. I don't give a flying turd nugget about uncles and nephews.
